https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid ... 2353698914WAVE is getting ready
We got some really good news. The firmware for the WAVE is getting close to completion and with it the delivery of this beautiful synth.
Our next step is to build 50 pre-production samples and start an extensive test program with internal and external beta testers to ensure the synth will have undergone the most stringent quality testing.
If you like to participate in the testing of the WAVE, come join the beta tester team. However, please note that there a critical requirements associated with this program.
1.) You must own an original “WAVE” in order to do extensive comparisons.
2.) You have deep technical understanding and knowledge related to professional testing procedures and sound analysis
3.) You own a video channel and you're willing to create several comparison videos.
If you meet these criteria, please contact us at joinus@musictribe.com and provide us with detailed information related to the above 3 points. We will select max 20 beta testers and reward them with a free unit in return for their extensive efforts.
We're super excited about this flagship synth. We know that it has taken much time, but we're very proud of our engineering team who have done an amazing job to bring back yet another piece of synthesizer history.

Apparently the Behringer Wave is in Beta testing phase...

I'm often shocked at how companies act like you're privileged for being allowed to work for them for free in beta testing, but this hardware version takes the cake. What amounts to maybe $1200 in payment has the criteria that you beta test, do free advertising for them, and own a classic synth currently going for $19,500.egbert101 wrote: Tue Jul 02, 2024 4:25 pm Apparently the Behringer Wave is in Beta testing phase...https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid ... 2353698914WAVE is getting ready

Surely, influencers are already in line. They’re probably hunting for original Wave’s as we speak.

Okay, so it still has analog filters, according to Wiki.
But the only problem I can see is how accurate the digital processing is going to be, since I don't believe Behringer would be able to use the original source code. Even so, I might be interested simply because of the analog filters, will make it special anyway.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PPG_WaveWave 2 (1981–1982) - 8 oscillators (one per voice), 8-bit resolution, single modulation wheel, CEM 3320 VCFs
Wave 2.2 (1982–1984) - 16 oscillators (two per voice), 8-bit resolution, dual modulation wheels, SSM 2044 VCFs
Wave 2.3 (1984–1987) - 16 oscillators (two per voice), 12-bit resolution for samples via Waveterm (only) otherwise 8-bit, dual modulation wheels, SSM 2044 VCFs, 8-part multitimbrality

Hermann Seib's involvement with the project hopefully bodes well for the digital side of the Wave turning out right.

Having checked out the Trigon 6 at Robot Speak in SF I have to say I'm disappointed the Memorymoog EMU is being delayed. It's pretty cool, but it's definitely Sequential in it's filter. I get the tuning issues made the Memorymoog not popular at the time, but the actual sound of it is significantly different than any other moog, the filter and voice modulation are truly unique, and I would love to hear what a Behringer knock off would sound like.

Maybe it's not too hard to model the oscillators. Hardware emulation aside, as these old digitals are clearly limited bit depth etc, the waveforms are probably readily available.egbert101 wrote: Wed Jul 03, 2024 11:53 am Okay, so it still has analog filters, according to Wiki.

As with many behringer projects though, I can't help but think this would be better as a more original fully featured wave table analogue filter hybrid, than a limited knock off.
Sure, do some rough emulations as part of it, but why limit it. Time has moved on. Surely some kind of peak/summit competitor with a stronger wave table section is the thing to aim for.

Dagnabit
!
Just checked over at Behringer FB and spotted a reply to a question buried away - re VCS3, Behringer replied: " It will be there when time is ready. I guess we have to wait minimum another year, maybe longer."
At least they confirmed they definitely are working on it. Realistically I kinda knew it was going to be a way off. I suspect a year is optimistic with the sheer volume of stuff they're working on, some of them likely higher priority because they'll be big sellers - Juno + Jupiter being the obvious ones. No hints about Polyvoks either...hope that's still on the cards.
Interesting directions from Behringer. Looks like they're branching out into studio stuff a lot more - Neve knockoffs, comps, preamps, Eqs etc. Prolly not for me, but could be interesting what they come up with.

I know right? A powerful wavetable engine with real analog filters, but at a price that is affordable, would be somewhat revolutionary, and I would be all over it._leras wrote: Fri Jul 05, 2024 12:47 am As with many behringer projects though, I can't help but think this would be better as a more original fully featured wave table analogue filter hybrid, than a limited knock off.
