- Moog System 15: It constantly surprises me how versatile this app is and how good it sounds. I find it very rewarding. The Presets are boring, but it excells in Sounddesign.

- Aparillo: Very interesting concept, very direct Sound, easy to use, edit and transform.

- Synth1: Still one of the best sounding ones out there, very close to the original Nordlead 1+2 regarding „in your face-quality“.

- Everything Reaktor: The engine still sounds better than most modern ones…

I was very surprised when I tried it. While the UI looks and feels like something from the old SynthEdit days, but the sound and balance of Synth1 is damn near perfect. Great great little synth.

While it is mostly, only technically a synth, I like RANDOM from Beatsurfing quite a lot, also their RANDOM Metal drum synth. Great stuff! :tu:

Not even sure if overlooked or just "old", but rarely see anyone mention NI FM8 these days. I guess fm synths are a dime a dozen, what with free stuff like Dexed or Arturia DX7, but FM8 still kicks ass. If you can handle working in an environment as aesthetically pleasing as a morgue, FM8 can do some seriously amazing sound design.

Yes, Quite in Agreement...

Here's another from the past... Absynth 1.34 in standalone... After messing with this I am thinking they SCREWED it up with each new version... This sounds perfect mixing in even with modern VSTi without the digital nastiness in 3-4-5...

The Rhizomatic peeples had it down at the start... NI buggered it-

Thorn should be in here. And it's bargain.

I like F’em even though I wish it had a different skin. Tons of options and really powerful.

I"d say Reaktor Kontour or Skanner appears to be overlooked around here,
Both are very dangerous beasts, if you enjoy things happening you didn't, or really couldn't plan on. Maybe a super-genius could know some things like that from a deep AF understanding of deep AF design.

Thorn - even CM version is one of the best sounding plugins ever released. I have both (DS) and CM version (f**k PA) but using CM version all the time, because it's not overhelming.

Is thorn under-rated, though? I've never seen anyone dissing it and everyone knows about it.
