That’s a very clunky approach, what if I want each track to use a different channel?

Then I guess you'd need to create a different external device profile for each channel.aMUSEd wrote: Sun Jun 29, 2025 8:22 pm That’s a very clunky approach, what if I want each track to use a different channel?
THIS MUSIC HAS BEEN MIXED TO BE PLAYED LOUD SO TURN IT UP

OK I think maybe they just have stuff weirdly labelled
For the MIDI in in the inspector it just lists the device under Channel - that's what threw me - but the MIDI out part does list channels and if I change these it does seem to change the channel that is being used by the instrument - how odd!

Is CLAP support better now?

It doesn't seem to be fit for purpose at the moment

Yep, and Studio One Prime no longer works in V7. There's still S1 V6 Prime for those who registered it while possible.

Studio One making mix FX besides the standard "console shaper" subscription only is complete and utter scum.
I forgot how atrociously bad the companies practices are with how they treat their customers, I sold S1 off ages ago.. just picked it up again because there's some old projects I wanted to mess with.
..and was instantly reminded of why I ditched it.
It sucks because I actually love the DAW. Workflow is great, features are great, I'm comfortable in it and I've even released most of my songs using it, despite my love/hate relationship with it.
But, this was a total scum move.
Give 'em back.
We can't even purchase them as add-ons. Subscription is REQUIRED.
Why?
I don't want to pay for the DAW, that I already own + other bs each year/month.
I just want a couple of Mix FX options.
Freaking insane.

I never bothered with MixFX plugins other than Softube Tape. Were the Presonus ones any good?
Btw, 3rd party retailers still have the other Mix FX. JRR has the Retro Mix pack with the console, desk and cassette. Kinda pricey though for how old they are.

Waves tried that "trick" and had to fold and you can now still purchase perpetual licenses.harddaysnight wrote: Wed Jul 16, 2025 12:45 pm

- it's very tempting for a vendor to force everybody to pay each year
- I think Adobe stick to subscription for Premier
- Avid tried for a bit with ProTools, and then folded to allow perpetual too(then unlisted from Nasdaq)
We will see how remains of Presonus handle this.
- AFAIK they have no entry level alternative still for StudioOne
- as long as money is rolling in they probably keep at their current path
- we must understand every purchase is a statement too, "we like what you do"
Basic tip is to never make you depend on stock plugins(or content) for a daw to start with. It locks you in to that daw(which by the way is the idea from their perspective).
2013-2014 I purchased everything I was curious about from Waves and still use that, in any daw I find fit the purpose since. All wups expired 2014 and never needed to pay since, still works on windows 11.

I have never thought of using something similar to Bitwig's modulators or Cubase's FX modulators in Studio One, until today. I assume this is nothing that they have added to Studio One, yet?
Mac Mini M4 Pro | 14 Cores (10P/4E) | 48GB RAM | Studio One | Reason | Bitwig Studio | Logic Pro | FL Studio | Cubase Pro | Waveform | Reaper | Renoise | ~1000 VSTs/AUs | ~350 REs

DAW devs at some point should remove outdated features, to free up developer ressources. In S1 case, audiounit-support would be such a thing. Audiounit-support makes no sense, if you don't even offer an iOS version of your software. Other than for iOS, it is a very proprietary plugin format, only existing for Apple's Logic. CLAP, VST2, VST3 snd ARA support are more than enough. Please remove it.
