hmm... Dimmu Borgir is good for this sort of mood in most cases, although they get minus points for thinking that syllable count is directly proportional to cleverness in lyrics, and a backup - operatic - bassist - part - time - singer that really should just stfu and play.

There definitely comes a point where speed and the gruff vocals start to sound a) silly and b) tiresome / numbing. The intensity in music is pronounced, and gets its impact when its combined with slower and / or quieter things.

Just my opinion, your mileage may vary

I didn't like Dimmuborgir at all until i went to a concert with them in Bergen, Norway. Damn it was fun.

there's some oldschool Hardcore (up to 250, even 300 bpm tracks). Crazy electronic early 90's stuff from europe. Some of that may apeal to you. maybe not.

jeez that's the real kiddy hardcore, dunno in this day and age why anyone would want to listen to old crap like that

i think most people abandoned hardcore in those days, not surprising

also .. do you mean lenny dee?

as for freeform, URGH that is the modern day pissweak kiddy uk ecstacy-fueled rubbish, about as hard as jelly

kenny gee is different than lenny dee. almost forgot about that guy. he did a set here in ontario last summer. supposedly, everyone thought it was complete crap. i don't mind the industrial strength records though.

as far as all of that old school stuff, i'm more into Scott Brown, Endymion, Tommyknocker, Omar Santanam, Dione and of course, Neophyte. but again, i have really poor taste so don't listen to me.

forgot to mention them, as well. Wasn't the drummer only 16 years old when Winds of Creation came out? Pretty impressive. Some of the best metal to come out of poland since Behemoth.
