D'oh! Ok, nevermind that one then. It's still no big deal.drez wrote:Sorry Braj, no can do. I'm beta'ing and it can't be done unfortunately.braj wrote:... Also, I believe Live5 allows you to freeze Rewire tracks so I'm guessing this will become even easier to deal with.
BTW, I'm using Porte-Plume (first download link on that page)[url] which is a notepad-like little app to keep notes about my tunes within Live, and it is especially useful to not Rewire details. I wish there were a Mac equivalent.

100% agree. Dual Displays with Reason and Live are perfect. I keep all my Reason stuff in its own area and all my Live in the other. Keeps the clutter at a minimum.braj wrote:One more thing about using Reason and Live in combination: you have one consistent UI concept for all your synths. I have a second LCD monitor set up 'sideways' and at 768x1024, Reason's rack fits the screen perfectly, so I always have my synths in view. I still use VSTis, but Reason makes me feel like I have some sort of consistent 'hardware' set up.

Not to mention I've never had Reason/Live crash on me. It's rock solid.

so how about the only being able to automate the first 128 parameters of a vst issue?

I think that is still an issue, but thats a difficult one to crack, because of how they've implemented the parameter tweaking.ericj23 wrote:so how about the only being able to automate the first 128 parameters of a vst issue?
I asked about this in Live4, and they said they were trying to come up with a way to not have that GUI down below explode if you had a ton of params. For example, RMX has 10000 params I think? if you opened that paramter tweaking box in live, it'd probably go crazy.
Thats a good point tho, maybe we should repost it in feature requests to try and bump it up the list of TO-DOs
If it sounds good it is good.

but can you automate all the parameters without opening the box - or can it just not be done ??

Sorry if I insulted you. Tell me, what were your impressions of Samplitude? I'm editing this since it sounds like I'm taunting you.olafmol wrote:nice how you assume i didn't checkout samplitude.... really, my personal experience in a good monitoring-environment and with non-tired ears is that the summing-engines of the big DAW's are really very close, so close it's not really possible to find consistent differences...... most of the time what you hear is either differences in headroom and/or gainstructure or panning-law .... ie louder sounds better.... or it's some overlooked processing going on....simply playing back a non-warped sample-loop in HQ setting in live 4 should give the same results as in samplitude..... make sure you correct for differences in level...dlt123 wrote:Your question makes me feel you haven't used Samplitude.olafmol wrote:are you sure you weren't clipping the channels/main out in live 4?dlt123 wrote:Now this is something I am very interested in. Has the sound quality as a whole, been improved, not just the Warp Engine, but all of Live4's sound quality? I felt that Live4 had a brittle or sharp sound and this just wasn't my ears.stale bread wrote:i wonder meself, cause folks were talking so much about the quality of the sound and according to all accounts the new warping engine sounds and functions stuningly.
I've recently purchased Samplitude Pro V8.2 and it's sound engine is stunning. It sounds much cleaner, refined and much more full to my ears than Live4 does.
Again, did Live5 improve their sound engine?
Note: This isn't a slam on Live4, but it just doesn't sound as good as Sam's sound engine does to my ears.
Thanks,

The answer is NO, it wasn't clipping. I've been using Live4 for awhile and I do love Live.

just my 2 cents of course, if you prefer the sound of samplitude then for all means use samplitude
Olaf
Seriously though, what did you think of Sam and what version did/do you use?
Personally, I am still going to update to Live5 when it comes out. I love Live's workflow.

Headquest first I want to thank you for all the time you put into giving us a better overview I really appreciate it and I wanted to ask if you could clarify one thing, that frozen file temp folder: those files are rendered and can be copied to another folder, and you said you could still record clip play into the arrangement view of frozen clips, after they've been recorded into the arrangement view are they now separate audio files like in Live 4 to do with what you will, or are they still linked to the frozen clips of the session view?
