Ok that got me confused - I was pretty sure that there's an entry for that in the energyXT.ini file (in system folder), but it's not there :help:

sorry, I don't know?

---

Anti-aliasing of lines

to turn off the anti-aliasing of lines -

edit the energyXT.ini file,
add an aalines field in the Layout section of the file, with a value of 0
- - Example:

Code: Select all

[Layout]
Skin=C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Documents\energyXT\GUIs\darkstar_grey_dawn.gui
MenuOpaque=80
PartDetail=25
aalines=0
save and close the file

---

Semi-transparent Menus

to set the transparency of menus -

edit the energyXT.ini file,
add a MenuOpaque field in the Layout section of the file, with a value in the range 0 and 127
- - Example:

Code: Select all

[Layout]
Skin=C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Documents\energyXT\GUIs\darkstar_grey_dawn.gui
MenuOpaque=80
PartDetail=25
save and close the file

---

Semi-transparent Audio Clips

to set the transparency of the background for audio clips -

edit the energyXT.ini file,
add an AudioClipOpaque field into the Layout section of the file, with a value in the range 0 and 127
- - Example:

Code: Select all

[Layout]
Skin=C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Documents\energyXT\GUIs\darkstar_grey_dawn.gui
audioClipOpaque=64
PartDetail=25
save and close the file

---

MIDI Note Colour Density

to set the density range for MIDI Notes in the piano rolls -

edit the energyXT.ini file,
add an midiEventOpaqueByVelocity field into the Layout section of the file, with a value in the range 0 and 127
a value of 0 means that the notes are displayed with full colour density, otherwise the colour density depends on the note's velocity
- - Example:

Code: Select all

[Layout]
Skin=C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Documents\energyXT\GUIs\darkstar_grey_dawn.gui
midiEventOpaqueByVelocity=127
PartDetail=25
save and close the file

---

Part Content Density in Sequencer

to set the density of the images (waveforms, notes or events) within parts in the Sequencer Arrange window -

edit the energyXT.ini file,
add a PartDetail field in the Layout section of the file, with a value in the range 0 and 127
- - Example:

Code: Select all

[Layout]
Skin=C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Documents\energyXT\GUIs\darkstar_grey_dawn.gui
MenuOpaque=80
PartDetail=25
save and close the file

thanks. Odd that it's not part of the skin editor, considering it's a visual thing and so much of the visual stuff is included. Must be because jorgen feels the transparency is user preference. Anyway woot :)

Post

yeah ... TBH i forget that when making skins ... i have transparent menus etc but it guess many users dont ... my skins will look slightly different in that context i guess ...

... hmmmnnn ...

FR for jorgen then ... make transparencies etc part of the skinning engine rather than local settings (although i guess you COULD have both with skins setting their configuration that could still be superceded by user settings afterwards ??? )

as a visual artist by profession what i find cool is that i think were now seeing 'mature' skin builders for eXT starting to develop 'house styles' as we all get more familliar with the skinning engine and our own philosophies of design ...

... until jorgen goes and changes it all for XT2 anyways ...

thanks .jon and branis .. the .jon icons reminde me of zx48k rubber keys and branis skin like someone said its refreshing.. i made some changes, removed the tab, changed the yeallow clips to brown clips, and prefer the vst icons in white default(color) XT icons.. thanks!

Oh those rubber keys... I wore out two keyboards, or letters O and P to be specific :hihi:

Download UPDATED standard version

I made some parts a bit lighter (bg & icons, button texts).

A "Work in Progress"
- it looks like greys with orange Highlights are making a bit of a comeback,
- this is derived from my earlier XP-Silver GUI.

DarkStar, ... Interesting, if true
Inspired by ...

wasnt intending to do any more for a while but was playing around with some ideas and this one started developing ...

... i seem to be going off in my own little direction as far as XT skins are concerned but maybe someone else can find a use for it too ...

... wanted something minimal and simple but with (hopefully) a little bit more style than another windows default type skin ...

Nice one darkstar :D
I really love it :love:

it's great, but I think more contrast is needed! the GUI seems to be behind an unclean window!
