What is in those folders? You might be able to delete them
androidlove wrote:also, the ss2 sounds are excluded as they are in a different folder which contains folders Sonik Synth 2 Presets, SS2Instruments, and SS2Pref.
My folder organisation is:
Q:\IK Multimedia
Q:\IK Multimedia\SampleMoog
Q:\IK Multimedia\SampleTank 2
Q:\IK Multimedia\SampleTank 2\Grooves
Q:\IK Multimedia\SampleTank 2\Instruments
Q:\IK Multimedia\Sonik Synth 2

-- note that the Librarires are not stored in the Program Files folders, but on a different disk.

Then I set the folder in the ST2 Preferences file to wherever I want,
e.g InstrumentPath=Q:\IK Multimedia\SampleTank 2\Instruments\

So you will need to move the Sonik Synth library into your IK folder, alongside your ST2 folder (as shown above).

And for the ST2 and SS2 presets folders, these are where the Combis are installed. To use the SS2 Combis in ST2 you will need to COPY the folders in C:\Program Files\IK Multimedia\Sonik Synth 2\Presets into the folder C:\Program Files\IK Multimedia\SampleTank 2.5\Presets (or a sub-folder named "Sonik Synth" if you want to keep them organised).

Just because loops can be looped, doesn't mean they have to be loops. They are essentially a string of drum samples that can be used in your song in a million different ways.

In this case, especially with all the acoustic loops in these packs, you can play the loops on your keyboard, which each note triggering a different drum sound in the groove. So essentially, each of these drum packs contains 100-200 virtual drum kits, which may not be as versatile as a FULL virtual drumkit, but can get you some very realistic and satisfying results which are unique to each "loop".

Loops only sound like loops if you loop them and make no effort to make whatever rhythmic and dynamic variations the song is demanding.

i moved all the sounds to 1 folder and copied the presets. i then located the basic sound sets from the other players so they will still load right in an older song. i didn't delete anything. i now have a clear list of an 18GB sample folder (it could have been bigger, but we don't all like the same stuff, ya know?). when will i find time to clean house?

thanks!

yea, slices are a bit limited compared to instruments. that's why i don't use them. really, i enjoy helping my daughter put together songs. i've also been using the demo drum loops in st by splitting the keyboard and testing out sounds on the upper keys. i don't mean to start a war (although i was aware of the possibility when i posted). i should probably shut up before i get banned

Just found out i have like 43 dollars in jam points from IK. But i have already joined the group buy. Can i only use the jam points through IK or can i use it with esoundz? Have any one you joined twice?

There's no war here. The only limits, though, are those you place on them. You can get MUCH MORE REALISTIC results playing a tambourine or percussion loop than you could playing most virtual instruments dedicated to the same sounds, because you have all the hit variations at your disposal to string together in the most convincing rhythmic way.

But that may not be a way that you want to work, or that interests you. But you may be shutting out a very useful method for laying certain tracks. I almost never use loops as loops. But I use bits of them in every song, and the results are better than if I didn't.

You can join twice, but you will have to join through IK to use the Jam Points. I joined twice, and may even join a third time if Squids adds a few extra titles.

Talking of Squids he seems unusually silent these days. I hope he is working on some new surprise material/GB :)

I've just been getting into Facebook... more Squids Cuisine moments there. Some KVRians found me already but here it is http://www.facebook.com/#!/profile.php?id=1309128456 if you're on there add request away and you'll hear more personal (and often trivial) info on what's going on... especially music projects which I also like to do! There's no point in making sounds if you're not going to use them! Right? I've been up here in Canada working on a record but during the day I "Sonic Reality" (used as a verb). I have been conducting things remotely while my second in command, Erik, holds the fort with the guys (and gals) back home. So, yes, there are some sweet surprises in the works for this Group Buy if you got it on www.esoundz.com and I am working on ways to make it even better if you've joined twice... at the very least there will just be a LOT of choices and you'll want to have joined at least 2 times to get a second choice! Perhaps. But if I can get IT to do anything fancier than that I'll let you know! Either way... good idea to get it from esoundz if you want MORE (who doesn't?). I'm such a sales guy...

I was going to hang with the Zeddster too while I was here but I am so beat. Been pulling double shifts here and I've lost all concept of time. Next time though... or actually I am coming back for a gig on Canada Day that is going to be a big one so that would probably be the best time... and you could see me play live with this new music we're making here. If you like drums it'll be a good show because Simon is going nuts on the drums much like his dad did in the mid-70's... meets Porcupine Tree or something. A bit more edgy rock and Radiohead-like but it has some classic Genesisy moments in it too. It's been a lot of fun.

A few times I've come to the thread but when I see I've missed 10 pages I figure I'll just pop in and if someone had a question they can just repost it for me... track me down. I don't ignore anyone on purpose just so you know. I've just been on KVR for so long it is good to take a little break once in a while.... only to be on Facebook, V-Drums and Gearslutz! haha. Just kidding. But I do like to share my warped brain.

Anyway, since I bring it up... did I miss anything?

Hey that's fine! Only about a month and a half away! I will look forward to it.

In case you missed it, I was encouraging you to add the 3 Latin Packs to the offerings of Loop Slices... and said that if you could do that I would join a third time. Others said that they would do the same.

Since I joined a second time to add the ST Slice Loop versions of the REX packs that I already purchase some time ago, it would be nice to be able to buy the complete set (at least the ones which are of interest to me--and the Latin packs are definitely useful).

There are a few of us wanting to join again but needing a few more items to choose from. Help us buy more!! ;-)

Oh... okay well one of the surprises was that we were going to put a bunch of the ReTank titles up there and I think it included some of the Latin ones. That's part of the bonuses plus R.A.W. titles and all sorts of other stuff... nice freebies. I will see if I can get a definitive list together within the next few days so people can see what they can pick out EXTRA from www.esoundz.com on top of the mega deal it is already.

But the thing is... I can't join twice more on eSoundz just to get the Latin packs...

If you can't add them to the main packs which are selected when joining the GB, how about an option to join the GB for zero packs up front, but the option to select 6 of the bonus titles... or something along those lines?

Either that, or a really affordable upgrade fee to get the remaining REX packs which I already have in ReTank format.

Oh, no I can't affect it on IK's side... only on our side. But... you have an interesting point there. What a way to raise the deal huh? Make a completely DIFFERENT deal but offer the same 5 for 1... kind of a "no brainer" deal on www.esoundz.com Maybe we'll do that just for a short time. Why not? Let me see what I can cook up.
