it should be the same cpu as the old version, what was that on your system?

Are you an existing user of The Scream? If so what was the previous cpu usage? If not then it depends on the settings / your system speed / your project sample rate / the input signal. One easy way to lower HD cpu usage is to switch off oversampling.jtsterays wrote: Wed Nov 23, 2022 9:10 am First thing i noticed was the HD mode is a CPU hog ,went from 3% to 30-50% (5800x/W10/FL Studio 20). Is this normal?

No im not, was just testing the demo. I did tweak the mod tab but went back to init but cpu usage is still the same, my system is pretty strong, normal gainstage and im on 44.1khz, default oversampling settingsandy-cytomic wrote: Wed Nov 23, 2022 10:00 amAre you an existing user of The Scream? Just messing around with 1.1.4 and the randomise feature, got a nice sounding tone, and then when I switched HD mode on the plugin went silent. Switching HD off, the sound came back on again.

one instance of previous version was at about 12% CPU (HD)
this version sits about 8.5%

Click on the oversampling options and select x1 realtime and x1 for render, then also make sure to use the 64-bit version as this has less pressure on the SIMD registers.jtsterays wrote: Wed Nov 23, 2022 10:27 am No im not, was just testing the demo. Its 64-bit, turning off oversampling reduced cpu usage by half as expected but its still too high compared to my other plugins (ie u-he diva uses 10%). If you have a previous version somewhere i can test it

The regular mode is there for a reason, I'm not changing the HD mode. The regular mode is around twice the detail of any other existing tube screamer plugin for what it's worth. From what you've said I know you're on Windows, since the Microsoft compiler is a bit of a bunch of doo-doo compared to LLVM. This may change in the near-ish future as I update to Juce 6 and update the build system - and possibly support LLVM on Windows, but for now the Windows build is just worse because of Microsofts' bad compiler when it comes to complicated code like the HD mode.jtsterays wrote: Wed Nov 23, 2022 10:58 am Its 64-bit, turning off oversampling reduced cpu usage by half as expected but its still too high compared to my other plugins (ie u-he diva uses 10%). Sorry, I thought you posted an audio example. I have downloaded the preset and can confirm "weird stuff" is going on, but can you please email support@cytomic.com for further discussion?andy-cytomic wrote: Wed Nov 23, 2022 10:41 amCan you please email support@cytomic.com with the preset you made?mustgroove wrote: Wed Nov 23, 2022 10:30 am Just messing around with 1.1.4 and the randomise feature, got a nice sounding tone, and then when I switched HD mode on the plugin went silent. This is a feature, it resets the audio engine, and so will click. The problem will most likely be the plugin modelling have a large DC offset, and then you click on the cpu meter and "click".jtsterays wrote: Wed Nov 23, 2022 11:27 am New bug, clicking on the cpu reader makes a really loud click, sent to support
