grymmjack,

I made a template for Xara (guidelines lined with a screengrab, named colours) to make beginning easier, I can clean it up mail it to you if you want? I haven't actually used it with the latest skins, but it helps to see how the bitmaps work in reality. I didn't name the objects, though.

The GUI elements are named quite logically, IMO, and you can always examine the default skin with the skin editor. Select an element from the list, and it highlight (or places brackets) on the corresponding bitmap. You can copy the bitmap from there and paste in to the gfx app.

Some images have to stay the same size, otherwise you will get rendering errors. Some elements like window_group_backgroung_left can have diff. widths, and there must be some room for experimentation with sizes in general. I would love to know the absolute min & max sizes...

so this one was the first skin? ..is the skin that appears if we don't have the default skin near around ... cool, never remember of using this, but a like it , already liked the old blue default skin.. so thanks for posting! , (..2003, don't know , it takes me more to the 80's , to sciencefiction films where every computer screen had the black and green colors..)

Post

right, it's like the built-in default skin, but "finished" so you don't get all the red areas. the green default skin was used up to version 1.22... the blue one showed up in 1.23, i believe.

Here's a Xara Xtreme "template" document for skinners with Xara.

download template version 1.0

Contains 6 layers:

Guides
Text
Basic vector shapes
Vector window elements
Default skin bitmaps arranged on top of:
Screengrabs from default skin

HVector colours are named, and ugly. Let me know if you use Xara and find this useful, or if you have ideas how to make things easier.

sunny days,

Thanks for your footwork :) It seems pretty obvious how it's setup. Holy guide-layers batman! :)

Robin, let me tell you about the days before the Guide City clean-up, oh boy we sure had lots of lines back then.

Looking forward to the skin :D
