I'm literally shocked by the overall quality of the plugin. First, there's only a 32-bit Windows version. I see no significant issue to recompile it as a 64-bit version, other than maybe an additional work with SIMD instructions. Second, Oz took a month to prepare the release and during that period his site was down almost all the time. Paying for a good hosting shouldn't be an issue these days. Third, the installer doesn't allow to choose the destination directory. It's hard coded. Fourth, it requires administrator privileges O_o. Yes, I have to run my DAW with admin rights just to use this plugin. This is soooo wrong that I couldn't believe what I read at first. I don't trust an unsigned binary from the Internet, it's one huge security flaw. I hope issues will be fixed soon but right now it's totally unusable.

There'll soon be first comments like "it's only $1 don't be too harsh with him and be thankful you got something without spending $200"
I opened the site and wanted to purchse it too but that already was a problem. After reading here I'm happy to not have bought it.

Well, after all the hype, all the talk surrounding this plugin, it has to go down as (as far as I can recall) the biggest mess upon release of all time.
From the shop being broken (still) to the downloads constantly restarting, to the fact the thing simply doesn't work, and now I see the installers don't give options where to install. That's such a basic thing these days, and i'm simply amazed the dev didn't sort that out before release.
I think this 8 year old project started with the best intentions, for whatever reason was never actually finished properly in the 8 years (by the looks of the person releasing it, other things took priority) so instead of shelving or binning the whole thing, it was decided to release a broken , forgotten piece of software (If it truely was in development for 8 years, all the modules would have been updated along with SE and it would be native 64bit) extensive testing, etc, beta's you name it, it was a case of "what we do with this thing that was started 8 years ago, ignored for 7 more then rushed out in 6 months. So they decided to release it for a Euro with a mass of hype.
Depending on your stand point here, you could say that's fine, 1 Euro is nothing and support this , or you can do what I will be and saying its simply not worth the hassle, and i'd rather give a Euro towards a dev who actually gives a sh!t about his software and consumers.

Don't trust those with words of weakness, they are the most aggressive

Then you don't know much about SynthEdit. If one or more modules have been used that are only available in 32-bit, and the development of those ended many years ago, how do you think Ummet will be able to compile Genesis Pro as 64-bit?phantom-one wrote: Sat Mar 14, 2020 2:46 pm I see no significant issue to recompile it as a 64-bit version, other than maybe an additional work with SIMD instructions.

Website says they're working on a native 64bit version. So it definitely is possible if he would not have rushed to get this buggy beta released...starflakeprj wrote: Sat Mar 14, 2020 2:59 pmThen you don't know much about SynthEdit. It is has to be a mixed experiences... I see people with Cubase who can't get the 64 bit version loading and working. Others need to run their DAW with administrator rights. For me on Windows 7 Pro (for another week) it came up right away. I didn't install the 32 bit plugin and I didn't boot Cubase as administrator. Obviously there are some issues that need to be sorted.
I think the "shock" comes with the excessive hype. Anything short of outstanding execution across all levels is a let down. I thought for a buck ... lets give a chance. Expectations firmly in check, risk is low. Assessment so far... not bad (localized to my machine at least) ... needs to mature a bit. There are at least twenty good presets which makes it worth the time. Lets see where this goes. Extending good will to the developer and all that.

I'm still not able to download it. In my browser it stops in between and if I retry it starts again from the beginning. In FDM it says "Connection timed out". Here too if I try to resume it starts from the beginning again with not more than 60 kb/s speed. Don't know how others have downloaded it and also started using it.

Seems like I'll let this synth mature a bit, before I grab it

I had no idea he's using SynthEdit. TBH, I learned about Ummet existence a month ago on YouTube and was surprised that a musician made a virtual instrument. I just supposed he has programming skills.starflakeprj wrote: Sat Mar 14, 2020 2:59 pm If one or more modules have been used that are only available in 32-bit, and the development of those ended many years ago, how do you think Ummet will be able to compile Genesis Pro as 64-bit?

See there is the main problem with the installation permissions thing.. I never install any vst under program filess. I always create a folder on my root of my drive for vsts and I never have an authorisation problem!Digic wrote: Sat Mar 14, 2020 2:39 pm I've purchased this synth, downloaded 598 mb installer, and when i launched the installer (run as admin mode) first message was this
I clicked on "run anyway", and voila, installer started. As of now you can't choose install path for the plugin, it installs it in c:/program files (x86)/Steinberg/VstPlugins.
Opening a test project in Cakewalk by Bandlab is basicalily no go:
Reaper 5.99 /x64 opened with no admin mod:
Reaper 5.99 /x64 opened with admin mod finally opened the GUI:
Whole thing is still buggy, it takes cca 15 seconds to load, there are 128 presets when choosing from Browse button in the center display window, when clicking the arrows to change presets in the main window, preset selected before missing from the list when opened in Browse button, and so on..
Sound is good, but the whole experience as of now is meh.
I hope they will sort this bugs/problems soon.

Disappointing, this is not released for sale even if the price is symbolic.
