I don't feel too bad about it! ;) A lot of people doing electronic music today never had to worry about routing and debugging a rat's nest of MIDI and audio patch cables, or heck, even power supplies and AC cords! I eventually painted the ends of my cables to color-code them or put paper labels taped to the ends with matching symbols.

I guess it's sort of a sign of age to *not* think that all you need is a USB cable for both your audio and keyboard. Even the convenience of having all your FX routing in the virtual domain: no level mismatches, no line noise or scratchy connectors. Yet another reason why I love Reason! :hihi:

If its the latter I'm looking for fixes without adding a computer/laptop to my gig rig.

Hi Pete, if you don't want to use a computer
in your live rig,(and I can't say I don't
blame you...I don't use one live either!),
there are several hardware devices that can
add more functionality to your EZ. Things
like Midi Solutions Event Processor:

http://www.midisolutions.com/prodevp.htm

Or Yamaha's MEP4,(which can sometimes be found for cheap on E-Bay)

Cheers.....Cristofe
Hi, thanks. nice to see someone thinks along the same lines as me. Midi solutions do some great kit, although they are very expensive for single function boxes (suitable for big midi setups).

I use a Yamaha MFC10 which I connect to either my Roland XV2020, Yamaha VL70m or my old Gem multi media expander.

The MFC10 is a Midi foot controller that can be programmed to do pretty much everything, with the option to add up to 4 extra external foot pedals.

With the above I could attach my spare WX7 pitch bend switch (potentiometer) to two jack plugs and program the upward movement PB 0-127 and the downward movement PB -0 to -127 for a whammy bar.

I would have needed two midi solution foot pedal controllers for the above £190 and thats the only function they would perform.

I paid nothing like that for my MFC10 and I can still perform loads more function, add more controllers to the guitar etc, etc.

By the way I enjoyed your music, sounds great, nice of you to share.

Regards Pete.
Hi Pete, I agree...the Midi Solutions units are very
pricey. That's why I opted for the Yamaha MEP4 instead.
Got it for next to nothing on E-Bay and it does some great tricks. I looked at the MFC10 for a foot controller but decided I wanted something with expression pedals....I did'nt realize you could add
pedals.

I looked at several and then a bud donated me an ART X-15. It works great but the pedals are on the left which I don't like. Soo now that I've got the skinny
on the MFC10,(Thanks for the info!), I think I'll pick
one up. As so much of the rest of my live rig is also
Yamaha that just makes good sense.

And thanks so very much for the kind words about my
music!! :D

Hi, it can be a lot nicer and cheaper to put switches on the EZ (like I have done with the whammy).

For those interested you can connect any cheap latching/non-latching (0n-off) switch to a stereo/mono jack plug and assign a function to it from your foot controller/synth/keyboard/etc just as you would a foot pedal (a foot pedal is just a cheap switch housed in a fancy box for your foot).

You can also use a potentiometer connected to a stereo jack plug for expression.

Regards Pete.

The ez really is a good learning tool! I just jammed with 2 songs, for some reason the keys lit up, I mean I thought these songs were sysex-less.

I deleted all my old Youtubes,

Here's Absynth4:

Man I had some terrible lingering notes, not responding midi wise, I just plugged in an external hard drive, boosted the virtual memory on that, works normal.

Just purchased an ez-eg after stumbling onto this forum and becoming very excited about the possibilities. But I'm a little confused about the availability of the software that ?Mark? and ?Paul? developed.

I got mark's from tencrazy.com, but what's up with the other? Sorry if you get this question all the time, but it's hard to make sense out of the bazillion posts up here.

thanks :)

'The Other' would be Marc (Bangerter).

His current projects have been shrouded in mystery... :o

I'd like to think it's because some big name company hired him and he's currently under NDA for some brilliant product. ;)

Thanks for the thanks! I just regret that I haven't had time to work on it for about a year and a half!

Anyone want to sell me their Yamaha Ez-Eg? (not AG)

Or perhaps know where I can get one in Europe?

Cheers,

Markleford, Help! I bought a new vista-operated pc today and, alas, I couldn't get your software installed. Registering the midix.ocx file with register.bat generates the following error: "The module MIDIX.ocx was loaded but the call to DllRegisterServer failed with error code 0x80040200." Any ideas?

I do not have Vista here, but you could try this (found somewhere on the net):
Register the component from an elevated command prompt. Right click on the
icon for Command Prompt on the start menu and select Run as Administrator.
You will be prompted by UAC to approve the elevation. Once the command
prompt window is open, run your regsvr32 command from that window and it
should succeed.
In this case you would then type

Code: Select all

regsvr32.exe MIDIX.ocx
at the command prompt.

Wow! Marc, Thanks for the fast reply. You were right on. It works perfectly now. These new Vista security controls are silly.

Where is your ez-eg suite? available for sale?

thanks a bunch. -Gabe
