Had been eyeing up a guitar with an Evertune bridge for a while and finally pulled the trigger on an ESP LTD EC-1000. Plays like a dream and haven't even needed to re-string it, the tuning stability is so good!

Flawless guitar. Everything about it is great, from the looks to the pickups, and of course the Evertune. What year is it?

Ordered a B stock Strymon Deco V2 from Andertons. A hundred quid off the normal price just because it has a scratch on the underside of the unit. Been wanting one for a while.

Pretty guitar with an interesting construction technique. The small size looks strange to me. I want to look like BB King when I hold a semi-hollow.

Deco v2 came today and I’m amazed, it’s 100% fine. The B stock label seems to have only been applied because the bottom of the Strymon cardboard box is a bit scruffy.
Hundred quid discount for that! Thank you very much.
Got it on my board now, had to move the reverb off but I was intending on having it as a send effect for my DAW anyway so all good. Loving the saturation on the Deco, it’s like a sonic glue.

I keep buying and selling Revstars. I am on my fourth. I'll keep this one.
I am primarily a synth and bass player, guitar is #3 for me, so the cycle is always the same. Buy nice Revstar, don't play it often enough, sell it, later need guitar for new project, remember how much I love Revstars, repeat.

Revstars are really good, you can't go wrong with Yamaha
Anyway, I got an Eminence Texas Heat speaker. Love it, I'm definitely going to get another. I don't think I would fill a 4x12 with Texas Heat speakers only though, I should find something smoother to blend them with
I also got a second hand unused Celestion V-Type. For my taste it sounds too harsh, do these speakers get smoother when played in?

You can spray fabric softener on to it to make it sound smoother. This is what Mark Samson used to do on the original Matchless amps.

Do you thin it out with water first? I looked it up on the internet, and there were mixed opinions about it. I got the speaker very cheap, so I might give it a try. I still want to take some caution though

I don’t thin it. I don’t use much when I do it. Just enough to cover it, 3-4 sprays per side.

I got a budget (project) guitar @£75 delivered. It has a roasted maple neck and a full size poplar body.
https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0F9PR4XXR
I was surprised to find it was a £139 GAK guitar (below), GAK has entered insolvency.
Edit: On inspection of the box and sticker offering 6 months free guitar lessons @tigermusic who are also selling a guitar very similar to the one mentioned on Amazon @£139 in 3 colours. and on their official website.
I'll drop in a budget pre-wired alnico pickguard and a spare full size block. Tuners might be OK, it tuned OK.

I did, very gently. It does sound slightly smoother. I managed to cover it using only a couple of sprays per side, I think I'll leave it as it is now though. It complements the Texas Heat very nicely, I have them in a 2x12 and have the volume to the V-Type set lower than the Texas Heat, at a sweetspot I found after experimenting with different volume settingsUncle E wrote: Wed Aug 06, 2025 2:31 pm You can spray fabric softener on to it to make it sound smoother
I have two more second hand speakers I got dirt cheap on the way, a VOX VX12 and an Eminence Blackheart 1216B. I guess the Eminence is a more colorful bugdet variant of the Legend. We'll see if would have gotten more out of ordering a pizza instead or not by the end of the week

Got a Crybaby GCB95 25 years+ after mine went missing. £89 @Amazon
I was looking at a multifunction FlipWah by Sonicake. Anyone tried it? The reviews looked mixed.
On another note. Gear4music have started releasing more of PMT's liquidated "Antiquity Guitars" stock.
A T-style @£50, new S-style colours and a Rickenbacker style semi is now being listed @£119.99
They call it the Antiquity Legends RB-GH1, it has mini humbuckers.
