Vocalpoint Studios wrote: Wed Dec 13, 2023 11:48 pm Then they should stick with Apple products exclusively (including stiock plugins) and leave the rest of the third-party plugin whining behind.
That should thing doesn’t make much sense in the greater scheme of things.

People should do all kinds of things but people are gonna do what people do, and it usually involves self serving interests, much like saying people should stick to something else so it doesn’t bother or affect vocalpoint studios. Oh, how very human of you.

You could look at it differently. Every one of these companies advertises their groundbreaking products and producer gottahavitall to be the greatest tools… but then after selling a product, they want to prevent their users from upgrading the very software that allowed them to make a sale in the first place?

Every plugin is a dependency product requiring a host that can run within an OS. Why should what might possibly be the one and only product not running on their system stop someone from reaping the benefits of what they would otherwise enjoy? Self serving interests and all.

Anyway, people gonna do what people gonna do including posting about what other people should or shouldn’t do or posting about those people posting and posting more about their posting.

All fun stuff.

Firewire is being disabled on newer Apple OSes, say goodbye to your perfectly working Firewire Audio card.
Unbelievable.

Just so everyone is clear, the class compliant firewire driver was removed, after telling people that it would be for 7 years. Thunderbolt has FW capability built in, so RME and other companies that back their hardware with their own drivers can still run things like FF800, bit of a clickbait video but that’s the world we live in.

And, when it goes out of support, I can still use my PC with it.
(BTW, I am also locked out of Windows 11...)
Dropping OS support is not stopping you from using a working device on an older OS. You’re also showing a truck load of naivety in this response. Are you old enough to remember Windows 9x/ME? When Microsoft moved, from Windows 98/ME to XP, it caused a ton of hardware to stop working on the newer OS (XP). Expensive audio software also stopped working, trapped forever on 9x.

Think that sort of thing’s in the past? NOPE. RME can’t provide Windows 7 support for their newest drivers because Microsoft won’t sign them! They are forever stuck using old drivers.. because Microsoft.

Windows 11 is unlikely to help the situation, and not off to a great start when it’s blocking hundreds of millions of users for no good reasons.
I remember those. It's not happening anymore, right? Maybe they learned something. Meanwhile somebody else is going on screwing things up. Intentionally. And without apparently valid rationals. Almost every year plugins break on the new Apple OS. And you have to trust in the developers to update their products, hoping the license version you have has you covered. For me you're comparing apple and oranges (pun intended). And if you want to go on with the windows 11 thing just go on. But it's not quite the same thing. And you can keep the truck load of naivety for yourself, I already got mine 😄

Wrong. It’s just happening at a reduced rate of change. Like from DOS to 95, 98/ME to 2K/XP, XP to Vista (which soaked up most of the pain for Win 7). By Windows 7 to 8, 10, and 11 the amount of changes between versions has slowed and so less issues are being created between versions of Windows. However loss of driver support, for hardware, isn’t exactly sooo rare during this era.

So any pain, for Windows, will come with major change(s). You’re getting a small taste of this with support for multiple core types on single processors. But the obvious major change is any moves to ARM processors. Another definite possibility is Microsoft splitting consumer and corporate OS further (Because they don’t like that the Business OS side dictates the slower rate of change they can make to the consumer OS.. )
Almost every year plugins break on the new Apple OS
I already explained how that’s not accurate and some of the reason why people incorrectly think this. However, it’s perfectly true that moving to a completely different processor architecture is a good way to break lots of things. In the case of Apple Silicon good luck finding many of its users who’ll tell you these problems weren’t worth the benefits Apple Silicon brings.. :)

Thanks for being patient enough to point that out.

On KVR 'anti-Apple' is a far bigger cult. Bless their little cotton socks

(in the real world I've never met a single person that gives a f**k about what OS or SW anyone uses)

EDIT: yes, of course Apple suck in many ways, often for topics that are rightly not discussed here

I updated yesterday after long hesistate Massixe X and was really suprised that nothing has worsen.
All other Updates like Kontakt 7, Guitar Rig 6, Maschine 2, Battery4 and Komplete Kontrol 2 & 3 take 1 to 4 minutes to open the plugin on a high end PC. Thats why i have downgraded all these products to early 2023 and late 2022 versions. The only updated product is kontakt 7 to see if it gets finally after nearly one year a fix. So i need all kontakt libraries in old version too - that they stay compatible to kontakt 6. As Komplete 14 CE Owner i have now 25 Products that are not updated to actual version. All the years i have updated every plugin as soon as possible, but since this year I am really carefully with NI Updates. I have no problem to stay with this old versions, because everything moves into Grap - like Komplete Kontrol 3 or Kontakt 7 with new instruments suggestions - Haven't even tested Guitar Rig 7 - because I am sure it will have the same loading time like latest Guitar Rig 6 Update or Kontakt 7.7 or Komplete Kontrol 3.
If you have to wait one minute until the plugin has opened, than you won't use such a plugin - it's a timekiller.
So it was really risky for me to update Massive X - but nothing has changed. It still opens up fast.

FTFY. But Omnisphere users are the most cult like really. Many Apple users are just defensive and think they're oppressed.

'Apple' is a far bugger cult than 'Apple'?

That's a f**king genius fix. I always knew you were a smart guy.
