There’s more detail in this German language article:

http://www.soundandrecording.de/tutoria ... ele-hello/

Summary: It looks like they used it in two different places: They used the “EMT Big Snare” preset which uses the Sanctuary algorithm. They also used VVV for the reverse reverb effect to segue in to the chorus, which I believe can be heard here:

No, there isn't!

They merely describe how you could re-create it.

Thanks for the correction. Something was definitely lost in auto-translation (my Spanish is quite good. My German, not so much)

Let me quote Sean over at Gear----z:
sean wrote: Random Hall-type modulation doesn't cause pitch changes, but it does create weird amplitude modulation artifacts.
I have noticed this with the Smooth Random algorithm in Valhalla Vintage Verb (VVV) (Sean has only done non-pitch random modulation twice, both in VVV: Random Space, which has a long build up, like a Lexicon with large “shape” and “spread” values, and Smooth Random, with a more quick buildup). One way I can minimize the random waveform tremelo-like effect where the reverb wash sounds like it cuts out randomly, like a tape dropout, is to either reduce the modulation depth, or to have three instances of VVV in parallel. Since VVV (at least the Smooth Random algorithm; Sean can tell us which of his algorithms are deterministic and which one aren’t) is non-deterministic — the same input given to two instances results in two different outputs (this is how you get surround sound output, or, given an interface with enough outputs and 11 instances of VVV, 22-channel surround from a stereo input) — by running multiple instances on the same input, when one of the instances has an amplitude drop out, it’s unlikely that the other two will have a drop-out at the same time.

Indeed, Sean could create a version of random modulation which either takes multiple “dice rolls” and adds up the results, minimizing the chance of us getting a “low” value which would sound like a dropout, or even do something fancy called a “Gaussian random number” (where we simulate an infinite number of dice rolled and added together), perhaps with a Box-Muller transform or the Marsaglia polar method.
I might figure out a random modulation technique that sounds better to my ears than what I have worked with in the past
I would like to see a “Valhalla Random” plugin some day which has nothing but randomly modulated reverbs. But that might not sell as well as a “Valhalla Spring”, a “Valhalla Hall”, or “Valhalla Chamber”.

Oh, yeah, congrats on the Z-DSP/Spin FV-1 port of Valhalla Shimmer. It would be really nice to see something with more horsepower than the Z-DSP which is open to third party algorithms. Only some of the VVV algorithms would run on the Spin FV-1 (probably with the modulation changed); forget about porting Valhalla Plate to that chip. Actually, it would be really nice to have a “super Halls of Valhalla” ported to VST/AU/AAX, with more parameters since we’re not limited by the FV-1.

*BUMP* A couple of people have asked questions about VVV in the effects forum over the last couple of days, so let me bump this so that people can ask the question in the VVV thread.

In terms of VVV, Sean implemented a couple of new algorithms for it back in November, and plans on releasing a beta update of VVV with the new algorithms in the near future. There’s also plans to have the option to make the “now” mode white-on-black instead of black-on-white.

Hey folks,

We've officially released the VintageVerb 1.7.1 update.

Image

ValhallaVintageVerb 1.7.1 adds 2 new reverb modes, Chaotic Hall and Chaotic Chamber. These algorithms replace the "digital" artifacts of the other VintageVerb algorithms with more analog-esque artifacts. Tape style saturation and modulation noise, and wow/flutter delay line modulation. The results are both warm and surprisingly clear.

The 1.7.1 update also adds a GUI Mode option for the NOW color. The original black-on-white color scheme can be swapped out for a white-on-black color scheme.

ValhallaVintageVerb 1.7.1 is available for demo/purchase at https://valhalladsp.com/shop/reverb/val ... tage-verb/, and the 1.7.1 updates are available in the user accounts for all VintageVerb license owners. Thanks for supporting Valhalla DSP!

Fantastic! Thank you so much Sean <3

this is great - is it best to uninstall the old version and then install the new one? The user presets are in roaming apps or something so I guess they need to be copied as well?

You should just be able to run the installer "over the top" of the old one. No need to uninstall.

Loving the Darkness skin and it dose not hurt either that the new modes sound awesome, nice one :tu: :hyper:

I just installed the update and VVV no longer works. I got an incompatible Audio Unit message when Logic started up, and now VVV is unavailable. I've sent a support request via the website. Has anyone else had this issue?

Awesome update. Thanks Sean :tu:
Seems to be reverb week ...
