You can download it all manually as before, the installer just automates the process and puts it where you want itTheoM wrote:ThomasHelzle wrote:I found that the download worked best when I re-started the downloader.
When I got the "can't download" once, I seemed to keep getting it until I restarted.
After that I was most of the time able to download at least some stuff.
Also try late at night/early in the morning.
Cheers,
Tom
I noticed all my downloads are still in my download page. Does one have to use the installer, why can't just downlaod everything as usual from the page?

Damn, Im sure I'd checked that. :sigh:beely wrote:Last scrape was Jan 3rd 2015.whyterabbyt wrote:I dont think the date when the waybackmachine last scraped camel's website can be correlated with anything to be honest. all we know is that the page in question has been changed since July 2nd 2014. its the last time any of camel's pages were archived at WBM, as far as I can tell.

Not all pages are scraped though, and you can step back to see when snapshots are taken. The most recent privacy policy is from July last year, as I already posted.

I can backup everything except for the factory preset file, it keeps failing with an error message.
I will keep trying.

"Financial problems" makes no sense to me. They had a great product and a new version coming.
If money would have been the issue, wouldn't they just try to raise some? Like having a huge sale/presale or a kickstarter or something like that?
Buyout is the only thing that makes at least some sense so far.
Otherwise I can only think of rather bad stuff.
Curiouser and curiouser...

I would say it's pretty likely an attempted login from an unknown IP would raise a red flag and lead to a lockout, especially after someone has changed a load of user details as well. It's an automated system. In the past that would only be a temp thing till you contacted support but from now it might be harder to get a response, at least quickly. It's happened to me every time I've changed address.TheoM wrote:Ok i have another idea perhaps i could do this first then. Download it to have it all backed up offline here, and IF the buyer can't change details and download it themselves, they get their $$ and i don't lose, it just means i won't have account access till the closure, which doesn't really matter if i have a backup or 2 hey? The only thing is, i would be loathe for anyone to think i would sell something for money and keep it, that is why i didn't want to download. Perhaps a couple of character witnesses that can attest to my honesty that i would only do this as a safeguard and would never rip anyone off, would help, in my sales topic.
Sorry to go a bit OT guys, just really hurt by this as i was honestly holding on to alchemy as i said as my smoking gun for when i needed a cash injection (and the aussie dollar dropping so i would get more in the xchange rate and not lose as much money on the sale). But i was the one that got smoked.

You may be able to change your account to someone else if, and only if, Camel had some kind of automated packaging going on the server insofar as your preset files are concerned.
When you download the all presets file, if you ever looked at the contents before you installed it it holds the key files for all of your purchased soundsets from Camel as well as all of your presets. In each and every single preset - your personal information is there, in plain text.
Just look at an preset file in Notepad. Your name, address, phone number and IP address is in each and every preset file, as well as the key files.
Just something to think about, before anyone tries this....

Maybe they had some legal problems, and the new EU tax rules had an impact, too?

Sounds likely. Wonder why noone suggested it before now.Tricky-Loops wrote:Maybe they had some legal problems, and the new EU tax rules had an impact, too?

The new tax rules would not have had that big of an impact. As for a buyout...if someone comes with an offer that would put you in a better footing...Tricky-Loops wrote:If there weren't any financial problems, why should they make a buyout? I think a buyout is the only thing that makes sense here, especially as it appears developers and sound designers working on Alchemy 2 were not even advised. The silence seems very uncharacteristic of CA, and if they were having some troubles of some sort that required money, I would have assumed that they would run a "going out of business" sale or at least given everyone some advance notice.
