oh, I gotta recheck this thing. Wasn't it that one with the super tiny GUI?
Best wishes, FRitz

hey fritzman, yep that's correct. You can grab it at http://hem.bredband.net/tbtaudio/ but you're going to have to jump on the FTP coz its an older plugin
He lists the FTP details at the top of the page.

(with both I've never had any problems with the size of the gui though...

Not to start a huge row on the whole hardware/software issue, but I think that best describes the primary difference between a good analog design, and a good digital design...it's a more confident sound. Even when you go right off with some astoundingly mad settings it somehow manages to sound quite brilliant.fritzman wrote:so far among the best stuff I've heard here (to my taste) is the TLA C1 (Goodluvin). It sounds smooth and has depth at the same time. It doesn't sound exerted, even at extreme settings.

you know, I'm really a software fan. But either software gets real better soon or I'll get a few hardware units in the future. I think software will get better

not sure, could be. I remember a relatively fiddly, darkish, small GUI. Will see today.

P.S. Whatcha think about the Xhip compressor?

hey FRitz, no worries mate. The GUI for me is definitely a little too small to use easily. TL stuff is definitely impressive !!!
After this entire thread, I am liking the Sonalksis & Kjaerhus classic a lot. Of course, the UAD and analog stuff are amazing too but way out of my league in terms of price ... I also notice that the Sonalksis compressor produces a rather similar quality to those anyway.
I'm still curious to hear how Crunchessor comes out with the next update ... I may have to sell it to buy the Sonalksis stuff I think :S To me it sounds digital, I couldn't say it has too many analogue qualities. I find Kjaerhus to be somewhat of a mixture, clean / less character but still subtle and smooth like analogue designs. The UAD stuff for me, sits together with Sonalksis, it sounds totally analog and has a lot of character.
What are your final thoughts after hearing all these samples folks ?
Cheers

hey pakana, believe me, I have thoght about the UAD1 endlessly lol .... I really just don't want a hardware solution ... I hate having dependent components with software. Dongles, specific cards .etc ... I just have this concern that in the long term, if the UAD1 is replaced by something else, my old tracks that were mixed with the UAD1 will no longer be useable :"( what do you think ?

By the time the UAD is redundant you will hopefully have the songs finished... unless you are like me
Seriously, the resale value of my 4-year old Athlon PC is already so low, that is makes no sense to try to sell it. And it is and will still be perfectly usable for many years. I have gathered VSTs that I will yet need to learn to use fully, and fill all the needs I have besides my humble H/W set. And it will be even more useful in the future if I expand it with an UAD card. This is just my personal upgrade plan, but I think many people don't realise the massive capacity they already possess in the current DAWs.

that's totally true. The fact that we can have total recall on projects years later is something that probably would have been unthought of many years ago ... especially in project studios.
The only plugins I have purchased so far are 5 voxengo ones of which I am already disliking 2. It's a tough one with plugins which have beeps in the demo versions as you can not use them properly until you actually buy them. I will seriously consider the UAD-1, you are totally right ! As long as PC is still around that has the same setup I have now, then there should be no problems whatsoever...
Now ... to decide whether or not I should spend 2 weeks of pay on the UAD1
lol ... tough choice

man, I never saw that new licence for the new plugins. This is only for Pocket Limiter and Saturated Driver. The old ones are simply "full free".
Best wishes, FRitz
P.S. I'm very curious what Daniel will come up with as commercial.
