So, PSP MasterComp is still in the lead, but Voxengo Marquis has shot up suddenly into second place, followed by Soniformer and Ozone.
Would anyone like to speculate on the results? - I mean, why for example would I spend all that money on MasterComp when, for roughly the same price, I could get Ozone which is an entire mastering suite! - Is MasterComp really that much better??
And keep those votes coming in!
(iff you haven't already voted of course)

To me, Mastercomp sounds really really good, but it consumes a lot of cpu. It's a pitty you cannot use it for tracking. 3 of those and my CPU is maxed.

I tend to go back and forth between Soniformer, Polysquasher, or Golden Compressor. Depends on the material, really. I'll have to check out Marquis and GPP, I'm in the market for another compressor for some weird stuff that my current lot don't quite work on.

The mastercomp is just another compressor when you think about it. It merely has more resolution than many of the others compared here. But it still is highly material dependent, just like any compressor is, and it will not work everywhere. Ozone is a better deal, but not because of the compressor (it's awfully bread and butter), but because of the great EQ, limiter and dither. Then again, marquis is also a much better deal than MasterComp, a better sound as well, but it's also a bit iffy in mastering (ie. depends a lot on the material if it works or not).JumpingJackFlash wrote:So, PSP MasterComp is still in the lead, but Voxengo Marquis has shot up suddenly into second place, followed by Soniformer and Ozone.

Of all of the tools listed I think Soniformer is the true powerhouse and nothing really touches it when it comes to flexibility and precision compressive scooping. The side channel mode is next to nothing. It's not a beginners tool admittedly.
