yeah weve tried multiple di's all with ground lifts but nothing seemed to work.whyterabbyt wrote:Could be a ground loop issue. Im basically using it for live effecting/sampling a little, and the way i have it works fine at home but when i take it to a venue and try to use it for a gig i get this really loud hum.
my set up is this:
maudio midi keyboard (usb)> powerbook > 1/8 to RCA to KP3 > RCA to 1/4 to sound board
the only difference is that at home its going directly into a 1/4 mono input and at venues it goes into a direct box.
im baffled.
do you think theres a way to send the signal from my computer to the kp3 and then back to my computer? and then send it to the mixing board?

I use a Edirol UA101, I have the ins and outs number 3&4 dedicated to the KP3. Then any track in Live that I want to go through the KP3 I assign to 3&4 out then the In from 3&4(KP3) to the master.guitarplayer026 wrote:yeah weve tried multiple di's all with ground lifts but nothing seemed to work.whyterabbyt wrote:Could be a ground loop issue. If it's the humming sound that is the problem I would look into lifting the ground on the mixer or try one of the Ebtech humm killers.is there anyway to use the kp3 effectively without using live? im just using it for low in the mix synth stuff mroe or less.
You already know Reason has no way of creating a audio in / out loop so that's not a option.
Maybe they'll change that with R4?

What about that Peter Tools hammer thing? Or rewiring it to something like Bidule?riley4reason wrote:

On the hardware level and in case gp_026 didnt know, yes, the KP3 can be used as an effects send. There's a switch on the back for changing it from a direct effect to a send effect for use like that. Ive just got mine hooked up via my EMU1820 and the (oh so useful) Patchmix software that configures it, but it does depend on your soundcard. If what you've got is 2-in, 2-out then its not reall possible.

riley4reason or whyterabbyt when you use the kp3 in direct mode does the fx slider fader do anything?
I'm having so much fun with this thing but the doucmentation is sorely lacking.

one more question for you guys, how do you get the padmotion recorder to sync to bpm??
i'm having a really hard time with it. I have this beat going and I run my finger across the pad in sync with the rythm and then after its done recording the 'motion' plays much faster than the beat and not in sync at all?

Hey stale, the FX slider creates a tail of what ever reverbery tail type effect that is running. It works in both modes..I think.
Use auto bpm or make a midi connection with your sequencer to sync up pad motion.

in harmony w the key - how do you do that in live?riley4reason wrote:
To emulate the EMX in Live be sure to assign a controller to note length so that you can slide back and forth between staccato and legato. Add the Pitch midi effect too, set it to move in whole octaves or in harmony with the key you are in.

Yo would want to use the chord midi effect and set the dials to 3rd or 5ths, those are the most delightful harmonies to the 1.
Make sense?
