I might add the majority of Dead Can Dance, too (now that I think about it...)

"Kissing you" - Des'ree (nearly killed me emotionally after a very sad personal experience in 1999)
"The Winner Takes it All" - ABBA (applies to MANY situations)
"I'm Sorry" - Dilba
"Sorry seems to be the hardest word" - whoever perfomed it, mostly Elton John
"Because of you" - Kelly Clarkson
"Bring me to Life" and "My Immortal" - Evanescence
"Is it the Shore or the Sea" from the Sindbad OST - Harry Gregson Williams
"Have you ever seen the Rain" - Creedence Clearwater Revival
"Bohemian Rhapsody" (both Studio and Live) - Queen
"I want Love", "Room of Angels" and "Waiting for you" - Akira Yamaoka feat Mary Elizabeth McGlynn
"Snake Eater" - Cynthia Harrell (the music and general feeling)

some stuff by Nightwish (the old Nightwish)
some stuff by Machinae Supremacy (especially "Ghost (Beneath the Surface)")
that Braveheart Themesong
some stuff by MUSE
some stuff by Apocalyptica (especially the collaborations)

And many more shizz that just escapes my memory. So this is just a fraction of songs that influenced me emotionally (in this case, the more sad way).

The Replacements - Unsatisfied

Post

aMUSEd wrote:His best work is probably the Hermit Songs - Adagio is lovely but you can see how much he took from Khachaturian if you listen to his Gayane and Spartacus.
Thank you kindly. I'll be sure to hear them.

+1 for Shostakovich and John Williams

The score from "A Beautiful Mind" is another favorite.

The one film score that almost always bring tears to my eyes is Morricone's music for Once upon a time in America. But like all other Morricone music, it needs a Leone movie to borrow context from.

Good one. I'll add "" by Paul Westerburg to that, although a lot of Replacements stuff would fit nicely. Sorry about the Cold Case vid. It was all I could find.

In a similar midwestern rock vein:

if only for the "one night doesn't mean the rest of my life" line.

And anything by Elliott, but especially the song "Calm Americans" and "Drive On To Me."
