I'm going to go with Ugo in the spirit of true confession:

I bought the first Linsey Lohan CD with my own money. (In my defense I think it was like 5 bucks.)

Hell, I've bought CDs I still haven't listened to.

Over 3/4 of my vast CD collection I'll never listen to again yet I can't bring myself to get rid of most of them.

I still have most of my albums and only rarely actually listen to vinyl.

It usually takes me years to finish songs, and all of my own albums are more or less unfinished. (I'm kind of waiting for the opportunity and resources to have them mixed at a "real" studio and properly mastered. Which means they sit on my harddrive.)

I spend more time working to pay for the studio than I do using it.

I barely write songs with lyrics any more.

I hate my voice most of the time. Moreover, so does most everyone else.

I use loops. (I think collage is a valid musical expression and totally inspired in the right hands.) I especially like breakbeats I can further break.

I mostly use presets. Well, I revise presets, and spend time creating my own, but I don't much create them from scratch as I need them.

Most advanced synthesis kind of baffles me.

The subtle nuances of EQ, limiting and compression are kind of lost on me.

I think Computer Music is pound for pound the most consistently interesting of the UK music publications. I reread back issues all the time.

In fact I probably spend more time reading and writing about gear and tools than I do using them. Sigh.

I've bought VST/i's that I still haven't used. :dog:
I've got nothing to sell...am I on the right site?

I like new age music.
Especially to hear some new and interesting synth sounds.
My favorite artist is Patrick O'Hearn.
I also like some Chinese music from Taiwan...like Penny Dai, or F.I.R.
Traditional Chinese Min Zu music, of women who sing songs while planting rice.

I have Coldplay and Sheryl Crow and Pearl Jam on my iPod.

- I find synthesisers boring
- I know the lyrics to every single Cure song.
- I owned a Virus for, like, a week.
- The first record I ever bought with my own money was 'hits of the flicks '84(?)', cos it had Axel Foley on it.
- I strongly believe that people who don't appreciate rock'n'roll are aesthetically retarded
- I once owned every single Sisters of Mercy release, on vinyl.
- I often can't tell the difference between free and very expensive plugins. Actually, I don't think there is (a meaningful) one.
- That Martika song brings a tear to my eye

I confess to knowing that the Martika song is called Toy Soldiers.

Some more confessions:
  • I don't hate U2.
  • In fact, I think Achtung Baby is a great album. I wish it had been their last, though.
  • Some days I'm inclined to put all the noisedrone aside and just make songs that sound like Casiotone for the Painfully Alone.
  • I'm a sucker for indie girl post-Spector fuzz pop e.g. Raveonettes, Black Tambourine, Primitives, etc. Take 60s Wall-of-Sound style pop, run it through fuzz pedals and spring reverb, add a singing girl, and I'll likely buy your album.
  • CDs as a means of selling music can't go away fast enough for me.
  • I think the music industry has very little to do with music, and as such I think it's a fraud.
  • I think most music is just keeping time with style.
  • If I"m not satisfied with a finished track, I often just delete the whole damn thing.
  • I've written and destroyed roughly three albums' worth of material in the past year, just because it wasn't what I wanted. Sort of unfortunate, some of it was pretty good in hindsight.
  • I've spent more on gear in the past two years than I had in the previous 33 combined.
  • That said, I actually use my gear quite a bit.
  • I hate cables. I hate shopping for cables even more. As a result, I'm in dire need of more cables.
  • I have never heard electronic club/dance music that I liked. I've tried, but I've only ever liked the psychedelic versions that have derived there of.
  • I dislike dancing, and dislike people who want to dance even more.
  • Some days I think I'm just rewriting the same damn thing over and over again and am in serious need of new bag of tricks.
  • It disappoints me that the most successful people in the electronic/noise/drone/ambient field are guitarists. Plus ça change...
  • I wish I could write songs like Neil Diamond or Leonard Cohen or Joni Mitchell.
  • I distrust anyone who says they outright dislike all hip hop, country, popular music or disco.
  • I would rather listen to Justin Timberlake than most noise bands, even though some of my favourite music is noise.
  • I don't believe anyone who says one form of music is better than another, it isn't a competition after all.
  • I think music is undervalued on a personal level, but its social/economic/cultural value is overrated.

I'd still dig it...so long as you made a track about dandelions that uses bells.

Done and done!

Trouble with these confessions, I could easily come up with hundreds more.

@SAP, off to investigate Girl in a Coma now.

[edit]just checked out Both Before I'm Gone. Not bad. As it happens, though, it's probably not girly enough for my tastes. :hihi:

Right?

That always cracks me up. "I like everything except for country."

... well, I guess you don't like *everything* then.

I can't stand the Grateful Dead, Grateful Dead wannabe bands, or "jam bands"

Neo-hippies annoy me

I don't have any tattoos or piercings

I played bass in a blues band for a week. Then I went postal during a 48-minute rendition of "Ain't No Sunshine" and bludgeoned the other band members on stage before taking my own life. I got better.

That's cool; one more then me

confessions...

* it must be through the radio at work, but I secretly like listening to those Dutch bastards from 100% NL et all; brainwashed

don't worry though; for the major part this is all work-related;
I'll keep buying the extraordinary rather then ....
to which I must add that Radiophonic Workshop's Retrospective

* I keep buying those little (sometimes huges) olden FX whilst I should invest in replacing my amplifier.

But I just love that 4ch - just 4 faders mixer so much which came as an alternative to the noise coming from the Promix.

* Secretly I've been thinking and dabbling putting my toe back into using software

* but at the same time confess that I love the knobs soooooo much, that it will stay with dabbling

* oh and I should confess that I am having the greatest time with the radio, the netlabel and the highly odxperimtal.

* and drat... I should use the little extra this month on that amplifier, but the Q960 is so extraordinarily distracting

* for another confession; I roam the FX second hands almost daily; at least when I'm at work

which really is not wise considering the two above

* I have music free days, even periods... .. . .... . .. (outside of work that is)

but that could quite well be connected with that aweful radio playing at work

Hang on;
you were not to know these....

:hihi:
