Have some one the SL option for the Blofeld? If yes how much space eating the included factory samples?

Hello Martin,

i got my Blofeld desktop with the SL upgrade around two weeks ago and it's already my favorite synth (especially with the new OS 1.15...) !!

I don't know how much place the samples really use on the Blofeld but the midi file is 28,4 MB big. The file for SPECTRE ("factory_01.wpc") is 23,4 MB big. I used SPECTRE to transfer the samples.
The additional Wurli EP multisamples ("wurlilight_scd") are another 13,8 MB so all together it's around 37,2 MB (SPECTRE shows 38,2 MB for those files).

If you don't have the files already they are here:

http://www.waldorfmusic.de/en/downloads ... /LicenseSL
http://www.waldorfmusic.de/en/downloads ... ld/spectre

BTW you could not add additional samples/programs afterwards. If you send just new samples the old are deleted. You have to send the old + new samples/programs together.

PS: I haven't touched the Virus since i got the Blofeld...

That sounds not good :D The last day i thinking about, to make parallel to the current soundset for blofeld & largo one or two sample-sets fot Blofeld SL. But if i can add own programs after installing the factory, mhmm thats not good, also this sample-soundsets should must be than very small, because the most SL-User will have the factory stored on her blofeld. And ~20mb for 2 sample-sets is very small. :?

The "normal" factory samples are only around 23 MB. The Wurli EP multisample with around 13,8 MB is an extra file. If i want to send both i have to first load the "normal" factory samples ("Samples A1 to A41") into SPECTRE and after that the Wurli Ep which is "Sample A42" then. Then i could send all of them at once.
If you want to add more samples you have to first load the factory samples, then the Wurli EP and after that the new samples at memory locations A43 forward and send all of them together.
For those who want to use really big or only new samples just send those and the current ones will be overwritten/deleted. Those who only use the factory samples A1 to A41 still have around 36 MB of free space.

BTW if you loaded all the samples which you want to send into SPECTRE you could export them as a single MIDI file which is possible to send with a MIDI file player. You could also save them as a new SPECTRE file (.wpc) if you want.
If you publish the samples for the Blofeld you could include a file which includes all factory samples and your new samples besides a file with only your patches in the package.

Rob Lee released his first commercial soundset for the Waldorf Blofed called "Genres" now:

Ingonator wrote:I had a chance to play the patches of Rob's Blofeld soundset and like all his soundsets before this is really impressive.
The genres (this is also the title...) seem to include, Dance, Trance, techno and house but also ambient and electronic sounds so it seems to be a good mixture.
Nice Lead, Bass, Arp or polysynth sounds could be found besides really beautiful pads and evolving atmospheres, both analog or more digital style.
This set shows very well what was already discussed above. The Blofeld is not only able to do typical digital/wavetable sounds (which i like very much BTW...) but also very warm and fat analog sounds.

IMO the Blofeld is one of the most versatile synths i found up to now and it's sound quality is top notch, both for analog style and digital style sounds.
I already tried to replicate sounds from very different synths on the Blofeld including some basic FM and so far it never failed.

In this set Rob didn't even use all possible features of the Blofeld like e.g. user wavetables (since version 1.15) or Samples. AFAIK those are the things that will be included in his next Blofeld soundset on which he seems to be already working on.

BTW i am not totally sure but this seems to be the first commercially available Blofeld soundset. If i'm wrong please feel free to post a link here.

Today in the Waldorf Online Shop a new soundset called "Jörg Schaaf's Blofeld Xperience Vol 1" for the Blofeld is realeased. It uses samples so the SL upgrade is needed for Blofeld desktop users:

http://www.waldorfmusic-shop.de/epages/ ... D=15936585

Official announcement:
"Blofeld Xperience Vol 1 Soundset available
27/05/2010: The new Blofeld Xperience Vol 1 Soundset for Waldorf Blofeld from Joerg Schaaf (Musician, Sounddesigner and Composer) from Radikal Technologies is now available in our Webshop.
The soundset contains 128 brand new presets which offer a very broad spectrum of sounds, as it combines the sampling capability in Blofeld with typical subtractive synthesis.
The download package contains the soundset as well as all necessary samples. Requires License SL or Blofeld Keyboard!"

BTW Jörg Schaaf seems to be the head of R&D of Radikal Technologies which produce synths like the Spectralis 2:

I purchased the soundset today and will give a review later. This includes samples. The sample files are not included in the zip you get by email. The download link is located in the readme file which you get after unzip. BTW the samples are almost 60 MB so you will have no space (or very few) left for other samples.

The new Spectre software v0.91 for sample managment is also out:

The blurb on the Waldorf web-site says Largo has some waves from the PPG:

"These oscillators include models of classic analog waveforms as well as a selection of waves from the PPG and Waldorf Wave stored in two Wavetables."

"68 wavetables taken from the legendary Microwave and Wave synthesizer as also Q and Blofeld wavetables"

Does the Largo have any compatibility with the PPG-2V :?:
And can the Largo import patches and banks that are either PPG-2V, Q or Blofeld format :?:

The only compatibility is that Largo contains all wavetables from the PPG Wave. BTW PPG Wave 3.V is currently in beta testing stage.

I made some free patches for Largo some time ago:

http://rapidshare.com/files/319829225/I ... 2.fxb.html

http://rapidshare.com/files/319824154/I ... 1.fxb.html

Some of them are converted to the Blofeld for which i'll finish a comercial bank soon (hopefully...).

There is no import for PPG 2.V, Q or Blofeld patches. Largo also misses some features from Blofeld and vice versa so they are not identical. Differences in the Blofeld are e.g. the PPG filter model, samples import and user wavetables.
