Maybe it are my ears but it has not the sound I want.
I thought it would be like the PPG 2.V only much better.
I wanted to have some of the classical crystal PPG sounds I know from the older Tangerine Dream recordings (PPG choirs...).

So you getting old?

Hi Igro,
maybe that I am getting old.
But be sure, one day you will getting old too as all people do. :-)

You are right I am not 20 years old. I am a little bit older.
But I thing that is not the only reason I like the "old" PPG sounds.
For me the sounds have a kind of magic that I cannot find in the
Waldorf presets.

Agreed, btw. Some old sounds still playing in my head. 90's btw.
:tu:
I think it's time, when people anyway CAN'T create something new in sound.(But my dad talked the same :hihi: )

Really Nice VstSynth. the only bad thing for me is the 10% cpu usage!
What?When?Where?

Come on guys, I know it's a new toy and there was a lot of expectations, but somebody should tell the truth: this synth really suck! Komplexer is way better and more efficient on CPU. Largo fails in the more important aspects every musician should consider: sound quality and CPU usage IMHO.

I didn't even tried to write a short tune with it, I simply hate it. I'm happy to have been so patient to wait the demo avoiding to waste my moneys! :phew:

Can't believe Waldorf made this thing. CAN'T BE-LIE-VE IT! :bang:

It's weird that a few people complain about CPU usage. I made all these demos on my not quite new, average 2,4 GHz dual core PC without ever touchung the CPU limit:

Maybe Waldorf needs to investigate if there are certain PC configurations that lead to high CPU usage.

I hankered for Waldorf Largo when I first heard about it over 18 months ago.
Now that it is released I dont want it just yet.
The long development cycle influenced my choice on other products.
It is now interesting to read other peoples mini reviews on this product whether licensed users or demo mode.
I guess its not too late to get a copy of Komplexor.
On the other hand I will wait further until I can hear what the LEE twins can do with tongue firmly planted in cheek without taking the piss.
Rob and Bryan ( Xenos )
Two very talented sound designers who's work I thorougly enjoy. Just check what these guys have done with Sylenth and Gladiator.

Cheers

Initial thoughts on Largo demo:

Good
-Sound is pretty good. I don't think its as good as Massive, but it does have a stereo signal path and its easier on the CPU.
-Mod Matrix is very flexible.
-Envelopes are great.
-Its wonderful to have so many wavetable choices.
-Pickup drive is very powerful and cool on some sounds.

Bad
-Is anyone else completely shocked by the synced delay? Seriously, they have packed dozens of crazy times in there like 31/128ths or 7/64T. But for the life of me I could not find 3/16ths! I truly can't believe the delay was released in that state. It's the definition of fiddly.
-The chorus sounds awful.
-Filter FM sounds uncontrollable. No other digital synth that offers this is so "noisy".
-The wavetables really could benefit from some aliasing options. They are very, very clean and could use a bit of dirt.
-The GUI is extremely busy. The GUI response feels laggy. Sometimes moving controls on the GUI can glitch the sound.
-The patch quality is *extremely* uneven. Some patches are virtually silent, they are so quiet. Once again, I'm shocked that they could be released in that state.

Overall its a promising synth that could get much better with some additional versions. But I think for what it does, its very expensive. And between Thor and Massive I'm not sure I'd reach for Largo much... (very similar architectures)

getting old is better than the alternative

I think this is why they finally released the demo, so we can tear it apart and they can put it back together again only better. Not bad for the first effort but keep the complaints coming so that we will eventually have a nice synth on hand. PS lowering the price a tad would help sales.

What is wrong with quality? Tell me, WHERE you see bad quality there?
I think it's the most quality synth in the market now.

Thank God for that, then I do not have to spend money on that one too.

Hmm...given the quality of their PPG wave softsynt, I do not quite have the same problem.

However, I will rather go for a if-you-do-not-have-anything-positive-to-say-then-STFU-principle. Seems like there are more than a few around that like the synth, so I will state it this way: The kind of sounds that I prefer from synths like this, I can fully accomplish with my Firebird+ in a very sufficient sound quality. But congrats anyway Waldorf, may your sales figures make it worth the trouble!

This synth is totally not for me but it is high quality.

Absolutely! Imho (I know this sounds arrogant) many people just can't set a good synth apart from a bad synth!
