V'ger wrote: Unless Rob has made a soundset for Alchemy there will be no claims from me either as I already have his other sets as well as Supercore and Monstrous but no Reason, so GilJ, your turn to chose.
As I don't have Reason, Alchemy, Blofeld... I'll go for Supercore

Thanks :)
GilJ.

OK Yeager and V'ger, Cheers for making your choices :hihi: .... well done to both of you for those excellent tracks, and for all your support to date. :tu:

GilJ, congrats also for a great track .... good to see new OSCers getting in among the prizes :)
... So, now you have to PM karmacomposer and arrange collection of your prize. Be sure to add the link to this page so he can verify that you are the winner of the prize :) ... and enjoy!! :)

Re. 2SC, the idea I have proposed is very much a compromise between the restriction of having to use synths by the same producer, and the flexibility of choosing any synth.
As the idea has been inspired by our new coalition being 'same old', I still like the idea of using previously featured synths .. and if Synth1 is used on every track, then that would represent our coalition perfectly! :)
As I often say, it wont be the last comp, so there's no reason why we cant do an any 2SC if there is an appetite for it, but even then I would expect Synth1 to feature in the vast majority of tracks :hihi:
.. for the record though, I would not use Synth1 or Oatmeal as either of my 2 synths ... much though I love the range and quality of the sounds they offer, I would prefer to work with a simpler layout ... right now, off the top of my head, I would be tempted towards a combination of Felix and my own FNS4.... or for more fun, SFXR and another one which does decent chords/pads.
However, we could be really sadistic and ask contributors to declare an interest before they are allowed to enter, and then allocate 2 synths at random! :hihi:

Oh ... and another issue springs to mind ... presets for StringZ

Yeager has submitted his presets ... I'm about to render mine out and upload.
here's the folder link which I will pass on to ianwebb when we have amassed a huge collection :)

... so please take a little time to contribute to this.

I'd be up for the 2 synths free choice - part of the fun would be finding something different that nobody else had thought of. I don't see any real advantage in restricting the choice to those synths that have already been used, other than to attempt to integrate it into some kind of stylistic OSC theme - seems a bit 'form before function' to me.

Post

Ouch! Bad news! .... because I wrote my track in musagi, I can only save presets which the musagi Vsti wrapper recognises!!! :( :(

I've saved them anyway, but would welcome any advice re. how to convert them ... I'll also check with Ian if they will be of any use as they are ... oh well, that's a real shame. :(

Tattie, be patient, but I'm not sure if I have a right to claim a prize from Karmacomposer (you wrote "three prizes", but I'm not sure whether you meant one chosen from three or three are available) and if so, which one (I got supercore from a previous OSC)... care to help a senile Italian musician, perhaps?

For the '2-synth contest,' i'd like to see it, 'two synths of your choice, regardless of dev.'

I think this might bring out the most contestants; and failing in that, would at least bring out a number of really obscure synths which might have never found their way into a traditional OSC.

For example, if we did 2 synths of any choice, one could do something with Famisynth and Medusa; 2 synths which would probably never otherwise find their way into the OSC.

I'd almost bet that most OSCers have their favorite, totally obscure synths.

If memory serves, debby was talking about having a contest which allowed any manner of plug-in (VST/VSTI), as long as all of them were freeware.

I agree with mrblitz, very good points. Not to mention that a little bit more freedom would be nice, just for change's sake

Mac, it is indeed your turn to declare your prize choice, and assuming GilJ has accepted the 1st prize combination, you would be eligible for the 2nd prize bundle ... and that is ...

"2nd Place will win SuperCore + Monstrous expansion + BRASSphemy expansion + Vocalsphere Expansion"

... if that is what you would like, or if particular elements of that prize take your fancy, then contact karmacomposer, and include the link to this page in your mail :)
... Hope there's something there which you find useful Mac, well deserved for a cool track, and also for the support and the great humour you bring to the OSC threads :tu:

Re, 2SC .... OK, it seems like everyone would like to do an any 2 Synth challenge .... and if thats what you want, then who am I to deny you? :)
I wonder if Olikana will join us? the any 2 synth challenge ( NA2SC for short ) is very much along the lines of what he proposed way back in December ... maybe time to see if he's still around Image

Which I don't really deserve as I only came in fourth, but it's quite an improvement, considering last time I won a prize in the OSC I was no. nine, and that was so embarrassing that I barely managed to summon enough nerve to claim the prize... Anyway, thank you again and again, Karmacomposer, for your generosity!!!
tattiemannie wrote:the great humour you bring to the OSC threads
Yeah, as a matter of fact, I suppose a lot of you are still laughing at my naked pic :?

tattiemannie wrote:who am I to deny you?
The guy who does all the work and puts in innumerable hours, perhaps?

tattiemannie wrote:Re, 2SC .... OK, it seems like everyone would like to do an any 2 Synth challenge
Nah, unless 2 from a specific developer, I'll still vote for 2 from previous OSCs purely for the reason that to wait and wait for one of my fav synths to come around as a mouthwatering OSC prospect and suddenly get to use 2 AND free FX will feel so anticlimactic..

With Oatmeal and Synth1 available from previous comps, and me not joining the Oatmeal comp, that should do me more than well enough.. :)

Post

.... the hours are all the same whether the synths are previously featured ones or not :)

Well that there's no denying.. :)

My 5 uploaded.

Great stuff V'ger .... inview of ianwebb/kraklis support of these comps, it would be cool if more of you guys could get your presets uploaded .... and so compensate for my failure

Post

before doin an "any 2 synth challenge" would be nice to do an "any 1 synth challenge". which still hasnt been done although i suggested it in october last year and everyone seemed up for it.
and by "any" i mean also use of a comemrcial would be allowed.

ps: havin said that i would still enter an "any 2 synth challenge"

exactly we need at least one " any 1 synth challenge" a year for this very reason.
