Same here.. it is absolutely awesome! Damn!!! There goes another chunk of money.
This is my demo to do list (can start tomorrow evening, hopefully):
- FF Saturn
- TB ReelBus
- SPL Twin Tube
- Wave Arts Tube Saturator (well, if I got it to run on Win 8...)

Since I'm afraid the Twin Tube is on deal before I could have checked them all, would somebody mind to drop some words on the boys?

Saturn seems to be the leatherman in this realm and ReelBus a no-brainer anyway.

But how about the tubes?

Cheers,

Okay

I own none of them but have tried them all.

Saturn does a whole lot, super flexible and creative distortion, sounds great. I wouldn't get it to replace Twintube, but I never tried to make it work like twintube.

ReelBus is really great, like a sort of EQ-Compressor on your mix, but not like putting an EQ or compressor on the mix, it saturates, makes movement and brings out certain frequencies in the mix. Very pleasant, but maybe not great for a clean mixing, it's a bit of a vintage feel.

WaveArts Tube sat, well, its sort of either on or off in my opinion, your either don't hear it at all or you really hear it. It's more like a distortion unit and it goes from very subtle to destroyer very quickly, I wouldn't get it to replace Twintube.

Twintube, has saturation and harmonic distortion with different frequency settings, great for making exciting the certain frequencies, making things jump out of the mix a bit more and there is a fair amount of space between subtle enhancing (which you notice in a mix more than you really hear it) and distortion.

IMO Twintube would be probably be the most used in your everyday mixing, as you can keep a very clean mix but get parts to appear louder and stand out more. It doesn't sound bad like a lot of exciters imo and you can choose to saturate or add harmonic content or both. It's a gem imo.

I've been watching DSM v2 rollout over on gearslutz, I might wait for the next sale to take a look again. Very promising!

I've been looking at this cause I'm in to the DSM idea:

Thanks!

It's bizarre how well this works with guitar! :o I can capture a sound, do the usual hardly any tweaking and I'm able to get the THICK bottom beef w/o the usual clipping issues.

Post

confirmed bugs with DSM

Using MAc 10.6 in Ableton Live

All of this is in Ableton Live (most recent non beta
version) on Mac running snow leapord and using the VST.
1. load up an instance of DSM
2. Capture a spectrum (or load a preset)
3. mix song and render out
4. save song
5. close Ableton
6. open Ableon
7. Reload same song
8. notice that DSM does not have a spectrum anylonger.
this happens with captured spectrums as well as if you
load up a preset.
I hope this explains it better.

Also

When I try to render in 88 or 96 khz in Ableton live with the AU or the VST in Ableton Live the curve is lost right before the rendering happens.

Also

no available presets in live.

but this is a killer compressor. totally awesome. I just hope these bugs don't rear their head in S1 V 2.5

No presets here on windoze x64. Doesn't mean there are not any, but they sure as hell area not showing.

They don't show up in any plugin browser, and for some reason are not available as fxp, fxb.

It's tgtbt imho. But I'm looking for better sound now that my hosts work......so.

"Hi, plugin alliance? Yeah, hibidy here......here's my bank account number......just bill me :hihi: "

Na, I passed on several so far. Just getting the beef. This kills my need for ozone but I can't help but wonder, should I have demoed the passive eq??? :bang:

I don't think they are x64 yet. I think some are in beta though

Also, thanks to Elysia for making a wonderful manual! I mean, I know most of that crap, but it's nice to hear it from the perspective of THAT particular comp. Unlike some OTHER comps I bought recently with excessively generalized instructions ;)

thanks a lot for taking your time for this short- review, VERY, VERY helpful! :)

ReelBus is already purchased. From my quick tests, Twin Tube indeed seems to offer that 'something', and Saturn is wicked anyway. Imay already know where this will end up ....
