I get that I agree with you totally. I just think its a shame that people are shitting so hard on this great plug in due to the color scheme. I mean granted I think people just outright dislike IK in general for some reason but in the case of this pic this Waves gui is ugly as hell. I am sure it still sounds great though.hibidy wrote:Man, those are fugly.KevWestBeats wrote: Nobody bats 1.000.
I'll take function any day, but if I've gotta look at it, I want it not to distract me in a bad way.
This new SSL channel strip from IK Multimedia looks great

I could not stop laughing reading this thread.
Im afraid of looking at that gui for long periods for fear of me going blind.
It has alot of competition but if its as good as what you guys did with the 1176 emulation, i will buy it in a flash. Just please advise your graphics designer to lay off the acid.

After some demoing, i seriously enjoy this channel strip. And since i have deluxe already i can upgrade easily. I have 1 question though before buying it, idle on my ableton it uses 20% cpu, but when the audio is playing it goes down to 10%. Why is that?

I don't know, but live does a TON of that on my system (x64 win7/i7) Crazy shit like going up to 60% for one stupid plug in chain and then a whole song with gobs of vsts down to like 30%xamido wrote:After some demoing, i seriously enjoy this channel strip. Though it seems hibidy has verified some "crazy shit" that could be relevant.

I'm serious, it's bizarre but it's not related to IK in any way I personally believe. I dunno, since this is the only one of these I'm interested in and it's too expensive on it's own I can't demo/try right now.

Do you qualify for an upgrade? That will get you all of the new gear for the price of this one http://www.t-racks.comhibidy wrote:I'm serious, it's bizarre but it's not related to IK in any way I personally believe. How can I see if I'm qualifyed for an upgrade? I own some singles (not all of them), can I use Singles to Grand update?Peter - IK Multimedia wrote:Do you qualify for an upgrade? Another one (probably asked before but I haven't found definitive answer) -- if I buy Grand, would I be able to use British Channel without the shell?

cpu usage always fluctuates a little
like when i load a plugin, any plugin, it will show like
1.0%, 1.3%, 0.7%, 0.9%, 1.2%, 1.7%
even the same plugin on multiple channels will do that
just dont worry about it too much the cpu is doing a lot of thing beside just running your precious audio tracks
thats the trouble with pc's, and it's why my DAW PC is almost permanently disconnected from the internet and has little else other than DAW software and some PC games on it (and the cpu still fluctuates like aforementioned)
because i used to get paranoid about viruses and stuff hurting my performance. in all honestly i just dont trust being connected to the internet anymore, so I just use this shit laptop whenever I want to go online, my main rig is almost permanently disconnected except when I need to register stuff

Looks like you qualify for the Single to Grand upgrade. Also yes you can indeed use any of the plugins, including British Channel, outside the shell on their own.meloco_go wrote:How can I see if I'm qualifyed for an upgrade? Does your computer's processor get a constant amount of voltage?@midnight wrote:cpu usage always fluctuates a little

Does your computer's processor output a constant amount of calculations?
Does your car output a constant amount of horsepower?
Does your heart output a constant amount of blood?
Do your lungs output a constant amount of air?
Everything is moving; Everything is dynamic.. it was an illusion that it is otherwise. (it is normal to see any plugin bouncing around in small amounts like that -- it would be time to wonder when the percent becomes purely static)

I've tried it last night and I'm liking it a whole lot - enough to justify the upgrade to T-RacKs 4.
It is ugly. Actually, it's a shocking contrast to see it next to the pics of Waves, SSL and UAD's offering earlier in this thread- it's even worst than I thought when I actually tried it. I guess it subsides once you start working w/ it.
It's not just the colors, but those tick lines, which make it look cartoonish - less like a representation of the actual hardware than a drawing of the hardware out of a kid's color book.
That being said, I'm quite confident that IK will listen and eventually revise that GUI.
