Just got a little snippet of info from Korg that I thought I would share. They said that, as a general rule, all of the Volca parameters that have LED knobs allow you to record your live knob tweaks (automation)!

Some other parameters without LED knobs also support automation, such as the stutter/delay effect on the Volca Beats.

On the volca beats the kick sounds ok and the hats, the snare is sounding 808-ish but a bit weak sounding(from what I've heard so far) and every single demo has a 4 to the floor pattern so I cannot hear the snare on its own also how much it can be tweaked...

I want to hear a Planet Rock or Cybotron Clear type pattern made with it...

Why can't Korg use a rechargeable battery, instead of walkman batteries?

Rechargeable battery solution works in mobile phones, and laptops, would also work for Korg instruments I believe.

if they build all 3 in to one box/product for with midi/rechargeable battery I think they will sell even more (as I suspect most people who are interested in this type of stuff will buy all 3)

The point of the Volcas is to pack a lot of functionality into a small and affordable package. I suspect that their sales and market research have found this to be a very successful product category. Adding a rechargeable battery would have driven up the cost substantially. Combining all three into one instrument would also have driven up the cost, placing it in a range where it competes against their own MS-20 reissue.

I pre-ordered all three Volcas. I like that they are small, battery powered, and have internal speakers. That means I can easily play with them with my kids, or mess around without having to be confined to my studio room. Beyond that, they really do sound good and have an intriguing feature set, so they will definitely find their way into my music.
