Yeah, the "unlocking" is annoying as hell.
Let's implore antto to release an update without it!

antto, I implore you to please remove it. It just doesn't make sense.

Crippling the midiplay feature the way you did is inconsistent.
Either offer midiplay or don't offer it if you don't want people to use it.
Make up your mind

And I'm saying this as someone that is coming to terms with the internal sequencer more and more but still wants to use midiplay sometimes.

The only way to render audio with Venom while using the MIDI play mode seems to be to record the audio to a audio track first and then render the audio track.

Btw the cpu usage is very high (22% without playing any note).

What about a light version without the internal sequencer?

I think its made the way he wants it to works. Its not for me (gui & seq) so i wont use it

Its currently free too, a bonus for purists.

Hi all,
i managed to get Midi mode working in Ableton Live 9.
but definitely does not work on Reaper 64 bit ( using Reaper bridge for 32 bit plugs).
seems that the Venom windows focus is not correctly mantained and when I insert the correct code to get the Midi mode workin', I get the 'ok' message but as soon i hit play in reaper Venom request me another code and does not play the notes...
can anyone with reaper 64 bit confirm ?

this behaviour probably means: the DAW resets the VST and thus the sequencer reboots...
see if you can disable this from the DAW

That's insane!:x In Reaper you have to unlock "midi mode" EVERY time the plugin window loses focus while you switch through the DAW windows. I'm sorry to say that, but some times Venom makes me think that it would better leave a vaporware than released in this form.

All this "encouraging people" is good in some point but not this way. What's the motive to make life harder than it is already?

your DAWs are restarting the VST on play/stop which causes it to reboot

antto i doubt i can disable this in reaper. this is a useful feature i guess for initializing time based VST.
could you think of ja solution?
only Venom gives me this problem in Reaper ( no other sequencer/pattern based VST give me this behaviour).

I guess it depends the way your DAW is working... Like I said, for those who use Renoise, just pre-render a fake file and then render again with same name file... Renoise will then prompt for overwrite (and I guess restart the audio engine), if u kept VB-303 screen visible, you will see that it prompts again for unlock midi code and then have a chance to unlock it one more time just before rendering, enter the code (one more time !!! ...

)and if "okay" appears on the blue screen, click yes to overwrite the dummy file, and it should render with VB-303 midi on. At least in Renoise, I didn't try with other daws yet.

Sorry for my english, hope this will help others to make it work with Renoise or maybe with other DAWs I hope

I already rendered part of one of my new work with VB-303 midi on an to compare with CM303 and it's interesting but I'm too shy to post it here
