As already mentioned i upgraded today in the evening so guess i "lost" (or won?) anyway...Sequent wrote: Perhaps my English isn't correct or something. When I tried the Matrix 12V the sound did not remind me so much of a Matrix 12 or Xpander but more of a Matrix 1000. I don't believe that any of the hardware synths I mentioned have effects built in. When I put some virtual "tube" compression on the Matrix 12V my impression was that the sound was better. So I agreed with what Ingo had said. I didn't think that perhaps putting the effect on the Matrix 2V was something wrong to do.
At any rate, I lose the "Pepsi challenge".
I'm still going to get the virtual one from Arturia. I hope that's okay!
This is my current "default" FX setup for Matrix-12V (with Klanghelm IVGI and PSP NobleQex):

Will also check with the built-in FXs in Cubase 7.5 while the current setup also works in other hosts.
Also checked Spark 2 (included with V-Collection 4) which is actually quite cool. Nice addition to Geist, D-16 Drumazon and Waldorf Attack.

Yes, you should have one in there. If one likes the M12v and, particularly if you don't have Spark, it seems like a bargain. I'm going to download the demo later and we'll see just how well the M12v compares to the real thing, and, for that matter, whether it sounds more like an M1K.Sequent wrote:Have you logged into your Arturia account? You should see a custom offer.

Thanks for sharing that, Ingo! I have those two effects as well, so I will try them later and see if I like them better. The one I was using was the Softube one. The CL1B.

The offer was indeed in my user account. The wheels are spinning. Gotta watch some vids for starters...and then there's cubase 8....it never ends...

Your english is fine, perhaps I'm not being clear, and FWIW, I'm not known for being particularly diplomatic.Sequent wrote: Perhaps my English isn't correct or something. When I tried the Matrix 12V the sound did not remind me so much of a Matrix 12 or Xpander but more of a Matrix 1000.
No, they don't.I don't believe that any of the hardware synths I mentioned have effects built in.
No, don't be absurd, of course that's nothing "wrong to do." Your statement above is fine. To say that you think that it lacks low end is and that adding effects improves the sound is completely valid. My issue is that the comparison to the M1K vs the M12 is the kind of comparison that continues to muddy the water about the details of the synths and modeling. Adding a tube compressor to either will probably make them sound better, real or virtual, adding a tube compressor to a DCO synth, or a model thereof, is quite unlikely to make it sound like a (real) VCO synth. When I put some virtual "tube" compression on the Matrix 12V my impression was that the sound was better. So I agreed with what Ingo had said. I didn't think that perhaps putting the effect on the Matrix 2V was something wrong to do.

What I was trying to make clear is that for sounds that could be accomplished on both synths, i.e. that are within the intersection of basic features, the only real difference is that the M12 has VCOs and it is unlikely that a tube compressor is going to make one sound like the other.
I think that perhaps people don't get this, as 4 pole lowpass filters go, the M1k and the M12 are really the same VCF and VCA. For that matter, it's not particularly unique, there are dozens of analogs that pretty much have the same VCF/VCA, such is the nature of the ubiquity of CEM chips.

Yeah, so maybe you guys could stop downloading stuff from Arturia so my install could have half a chance at finishing?

Yeah. Their site is getting hammered. I just downloaded a bunch of manuals to my ipad and it took forever.

No kidding, Spark is taking FOREVER! I have to say that for V3 users, the update pricing isn't too bad considering that, unless I'm mistaken, you get four new plugins. Of course that depends on how much one likes them.rustman wrote:Yeah. Their site is getting hammered. I just downloaded a bunch of manuals to my ipad and it took forever.
I'm glad that I didn't take advantage of the offer for Spark, this seems like better value.

I just noticed Vox V does the same thing Solina V does when the reverb is being used: sputtering and choppy sound at lowest buffer settings. If Arturia ever gets to my help desk ticket, I'll be sure and let them know.

Is this in the latest Vox update because the version I have doesn't do that?

Yep. The one that was downloaded for me when I upgraded the collection.

Sure looks like it beats the hell out of Spark 1, which crashed my DAW more times than I care to admit. I didn't even get around to figuring out if it was strictly a sampler or if it also sported a synth like the new one does.ghettosynth wrote: No kidding, Spark is taking FOREVER! FYI:
Was just prompted to update to Matrix-12 V v1.0.0.414. Imagine my delight when finding out that the latest version produces zippering when using the mod-wheel. And I'm not looking at the standalone version sitting there - not being played - with CPU usage showing 75%. Just sent off the 3rd help ticket in less than 2 days.
