Oh my. This is sad indeed.

I do hope Andy gets picked up by another company for support.
The legend that he is :tu:
"I was wondering if you'd like to try Magic Mushrooms"
"Oooh I dont know. Sounds a bit scary"
"It's not scary. You just lose a sense of who you are and all that sh!t"

Another downer is that the extra sound librairies that were being sold are linked to our account once purchased, so we are stuck with whatever extra librairies we bought up until now and can no longer expand our Alchemy sound collection if we wish to do so.

I think a blowout sale of the Alchemy sound librairies would have been nice before removing them from sale, or even a heads up that the librairies would soon no longer be available, so that those of us who wished to complete some of our library collection still had the ability to do so...

Yeah, I wanted to get Guitar Mutations, Iceland, Ian Boddy's library at some point... :(

Why, CA, WHY?!

The fat lady has yet to sing. Patience, based on a good track record, is called for.
Many people encounter a hardship that forces their hand in the short run, and respond well, in the long run. I'll put my ticket on that horse. Alchemy has some audio import options, so it will never be maxed out.

Maybe they got a job programming tax software?

I'm really upset to read this news. :(

Alchemy is already pretty awesome, as-is.
V2 would have been something truly amazing.
My main tools: Kontakt, Omnisphere, Samplemodeling + Audio Modeling. Unify = godsend. Tari's libraries also rock.

Brutal! With a grain of truth

I am starting to worry about Spectronics .... No release for a long time ago. How can they maintain the business.

Definitely a shame if this is the case as I, like many around here, have been highly anticipating Alchemy 2.

Just a dream but maybe they teamed up with Spectrasonics and Alchemy 2 will be transformed into the mighty Omnisphere 2.

Best speculation in this thread so far :tu:
But I have confidential info that CA is now porting their technology to Espresso machines with additive coffee resynthesis, wait for NAMM!

...sad news to hear, as I was also looking forward to Alchemy 2. Never really dealt with Alchemy, but I always strongly felt I should, and reading about Alchemy 2 last year made me think it might be a good chance to get into it. On the other hand, for me, these news have some sort of irony - just recently I saw a video of Urs Heckmann saying if they were ever getting into doing something with samples they should probably collaborate with Camel Audio because of their expertise in that area. Could this have a happy ending?

(yup, that's wild speculation... )

Strangely, there is no info about this on the CA facebook page.

Maybe they lost all the code?

It HAS happened before with other software companies.
