What you can do too is, go to your VST folder, look for the Z3TA+ 2.dll, right-click, and check details. Should show you the version number. But then, if the manual says 2.2, it's 2.2.0.95.

So they have removed it in version 2.2, here's what it looked like in version 2.1

Did you actually get it working ? As in no audio drop outs/demo restrictions ? How did you get it to install and what version was it ?
Well I just tried installing 2.2.0.95 on my Win 10 laptop which has never had any previous version installed and got the following message:

So unless you have some secret trick no it's not possible to install and authorize without the CCC.....

Noone claimed that it is? You definitely need the CCC to activate it.

No. Looks like this here:

Unless it's different in the VST2 version, it only installed the VST3 version here it seems...

Well he doesn't explicitly say authorize but I took the spirit of his post to mean that he got it installed and working without the CCC......otherwise what would be the point ?

Well, maybe I need better glasses really :)

But I don't remember this screen saying the version on 2.1 either. Maybe it's different on Mac/Windows?

I see. Well he most probably only meant the installing. And maybe it even runs in demo mode, and he didn't realize. I haven't found a way to authorize it without CCC, and neither did anyone else in this thread, or in the respective threads on the Cakewalk forums.

Turning into a real x-mas mystery this, I offer you my view. Can you spot the difference? :D

Weird. Is that the VST2, or VST3 version? And is there even still a VST2 of version 2.2? It only installed the VST3 here...

I'm using the 64 bit VST2 version

Could be a Win/Mac thing...... :? I see Numanoid's version shows the version where it is on my 2.1 install.

Anyway as it's been pointed out you can find the exact version including build number from the .dll info. I was just curious if people are running the exact same version or perhaps there are beta versions being used...........

Yes it could be interpreted either way....I read successfully as to mean fully working not in Demo Mode.

A CW employee told me a week or so ago that the CCC is needed and will be needed for all future CW updates/new releases but I thought maybe stardustmedia had discovered a trick to bypass it.......
