Sometimes I do, but in this case for a lead part I used 3.99s tail produced by Reverb Generator. Still thinking it's a bit too much.

I made a patcher start for most of my voices with three Charlatans running into three FL parametric EQs.

18 tracks total of:
6 sets of 3 charlatan into 3 param eq
one set of three charlatan
one set of 3 charlatan into 3 param eq and 2 delay 2
2 sets of two charlatan into 2 param eq
one set of two charlatan into 2 param eq and a reverb 2
two sets of three charlatan into 3 parem eq and 1 FL filter
one set of three charlatan into 3 param eq and I used envelope controller and FL compressor
one set of 1 charlatan using the FL envelope controller and param eq and delay 2
two sets of 2 charlatan with 1 parametric eq
one set of charlatan running into delay 2 and param eq 2

six tracks had fruity reverb
one track used fruity compressor
one track used fruity panOMatic
one track used fruity delay 2

Hey to all!

I need a help. Can I use preamp and impulse reverb? What about distortion? Is it forbidden to use only modulation effects and pitch(and some that distort the original sound)?

Eh...that sounds a bit misleading, I'm afraid. You're not supposed to use any effects that change the pitch after the sound as left the synth...thus no use of Chorus or pitched delays or the likes.
Distortion/saturation appears to be fine, as long as it's used in moderation, I suppose. I was most certainly pushing it a little with my lead guitar, hehe.
Every plugin you use has to be free...uhm...just read the rules again!

Awesome synth! Wow!! I'm noticing its a little buggy in orion. Getting volume drop outs and I have to restart the daw. Already at 70 instances. Quick question, is adding enough distortion to make it sound like a 303 a no go?

Effects (external plugins):
- Any type of modulation effect like chorus, phaser, flanger, rotary etc is not allowed.
However, if another type of effect (like delay or reverb for example) has modulation as a secondary effect,
it can be used, but the modulation usage must be minimal.
- Effects that pitch the sound are not allowed. That means, for example: Pitched Delays are not allowed, or Tapestops, etc.
- Any effect that transform the sounds to make them unrecognizable as being from the synth is not allowed.
- DAW effects are allowed, as are 3rd party effects if they are freeware and easily available (this does not include: plugin betas, demo, magware or freeware that expire UNLESS a special exception for that month is stated)
- Any kind of effect already IN the synth can of course be used freely.

Bold is the really most questionable rule. Distortion on a monophonic note can still leave the original sound recognizable, but as soon as you hit a chord, of course, things get- well- distorted. I took the liberty to do that for a tiny section of my song, but it does not carry the song. I believe this should be within the margins of the rule and does not deliberately camouflage the original sound of the synth.

I also love this synth, despite limitations. If you layer it, you can get some incredible sounds, too. I have only done that for one sound, though, but now I'd love to do some more of that, haha... it's astounding!

My hottest new toy of late is Codex, which got me hooked on wavetables. So I thought I'd try to fake a wavetabley lead with a few (5) layers of Charlatan.
