What about granular engine CPU efficiency compared to Motu MF3 and Steinberg Halion 5?

I can't see Motu granting an upgrade path for this... I see them as different products despite the UVI's crossover.

This appears to be the new jewl in UVI's crown.

I do own M5 tho'. It'd be nice to have an upgrade and all, but I don't see it happening.

My sympathies to M5 owners. I understand how you feel.

Me? I don't own M5 so this is a no brainer at that price. It's less than half of what Omnisphere costs and in some ways it surpasses it.

Is there an ETA on this yet or is it already being sold?

What's the CPU like compared to Omnisphere?
These aren't the Answers your looking for. *Hand Jedi Move*

Yeah I got -$34.35 with basket discount (groupbuyauto).

I ask UVI about Crossgrade and future of Motu and MachFive 3

- They don't make at the moment crossgrade from Kontakt 5, MachFive or... because they want to offer the price to all the users and not only to some people which one the product
- They don't know about the future of MOTU and MachFive 3 (don't know if they discontinue now MachFive 3 or not)

So, desperate for an upgrade price, otherwise it does feel like a mistake to have paid for M5. Although the intro price for Falcon seems reasonable for new buyers and I would have been all over it if I hadn't already bought M5. Now a bit stuck, as this is very similar, can't really justify the expense, yet may end up wanting/needing it as a M5 replacement down the line (when the price is hiked!)
Me too - this is essentially M5 plus some more modules and fx. Many of the modules are the same.
Factory Library: 628MB (compressed ufs size) also Falcon has very little factory sample content as opposed to M5 3
Yeah, doesn't MachFive 3 have 45 GB of content? I'd say that is a major, major difference.
Tangled roots perplex her ways.

Quick and dirty demonstration of Image to wavetable re-synthesis in Falcon, later assigning some modulators, adding a filter and so forth. Geometrical structures work best.

It can't possibly be worse?

I haven't read this whole thread yet. So just a couple of questions. If they've been answered, my apologies. Just direct me to where.

1) Is there a demo download for this? I know with Omni there isn't. I hesitate to buy things without even getting a chance to see if they'll actually work on my system. $229 is a lot of money to spend on something that "might" not work.

2) Never had a chance to get Alchemy. By the time I decided, they shut down. Is this a suitable Alchemy replacement and if not, where does it fall short?

Post

Why do you need an Alchemy replacement if you never owned it ?

Falcon doesn't re-synthesize (apart from image -> wavetable or wav to single cycle waveform), in all other aspects it's far more than a substitute, as Alchemy's sample engine (even in version 2) is still less than average and Alchemy does not do physical modeling nor does it support wavetable synthesis and it only has avery basic FM synth function (although it's great as you use samples as modulator for FM synthesis which is quite a rare feature). So apples and bananas really...

Not working for me ?

I get this message, and price stays at $229:

Coupon code "groupbuyauto" is not valid. Please contact us if this is an issue that we can resolve.

Great stuff as usual, Simon! :tu: Hey, could you give me your honest opinion if Falcon has enough unique material for New Age and Ambient compositions? I'm very tempted to purchase this at the introductory price, but hate to spend the money right now if it is not going to contribute much to the new album I am busy composing right now. Thanks Simon! :)

Will you still get the $100 voucher though, if it is not purchased directly via UVI?

Do you still get the $100 coupon with this deal ?
Yes, I just registered serial from JRR and UVI emailed voucher code (non-transferable - valid for 2 months)

Thank's - I can't take that decision off your shoulders, I contributed 100+ patches and a lot of samples and wavetables to the factory library, you know my stuff, quite a bit of it will be suitable for your music, but if that will justify a purchase - don't ask me. I sure did make some big granular silky soundscapes, lush pads and huge drones.
