I find the non-destructive shuffly of the step sequencer useful.

Agree 100%! But most software are not geared much towards performing anyway... that is the problem.vtx wrote: People should try performing more instead of seeing what the machine does ...

I agree with vtx. But I dissagree that it not being geared towards performing being a "problem". IMHO instruments are for performing. Sequencing and recording software is for the studio...I mean I doubt that too many people would say an Otari R2R isn't good for performing, because it isn't...it's not suppose to be. Of course I'm an old fart so take it with a grain of salt, just my opinion. Performing to me means playing an instrument, or singing. Of course I do have admiration for djs and the new genre they started, so I do see your point. Really if back in the 80's I knew you could get rich by scracthing vinyl I'd of been richer then rich. Cd's were designed for slobs like me...WaveRiderArts wrote:Agree 100%! The highest form of knowledge is empathy, for it requires us to suspend our egos and live in another's world. It requires profound, purpose‐larger‐than‐the‐self kind of understanding.

when using the FLS piano roll, is there a shortcut to switching between the lasso tool and the pencil tool??? I hate having to click the pencil so I can move selected notes...normal wrote:never use the step sequencer ...

After having wondered myself about this myself for the past four years, I once showed my FL based setup to a Logic user. He asked me things like 'can it do this and that' and so on, which were basically things I haven't tried before, but all worked after some searching! While that procedure, I not only found out that ctrl thing, but also that the Snap edit resolution - function is global and thus also for the piano roll... duh!SecondSkin wrote:Thanks guys. Heh, how great it was to then go and have a look at his Logic setup and find that FL is really as state of the art as I thought before. It was even more functional at some points, speaking about automisation on some vst's. My favorite sentence of the Logic user- "Oh well, I will then have to tweak and record it live..... once again..."

P.S.Big ups for Fruity, the program that you think of as a limited non high-quality prog at some times, until you find out that you yourself were the limitation before!
P.P.S. How often have I thought about finally making some suggestions to the programers at Image Line, and about a month later found out that it already worked, or that it just should not work (because it, in the second turn, makes you work harder on things that you were too lazy for - Thats how FL gets you down on being creative and inventive (And yes, its really about that FL has just the right measurement for this IMHO))
