Is it okay if developers stop making 32-bit plugins?

No I still work in 32-bit mostly

I only use a 32-bit host some of the time, so having both is better

I can't be actually bothered to make separate ZIP files, so this is how I do:

Isn't it good enough? Download once, extract whatever you want, and you still have the rest just in case.

Yes. I was mentally conflating the scenario with and without an installer. Without an installer, it's not really a big deal. If you had an installer though, I prefer that they're separated because it just means less clicking for me when I reinstall things. I know, that sounds like a first world problem.

VSTs can be installed anywhere on the system, and that makes installers just, remedial, since they can't figure how to use a sub-directory for plugin-specific files. No need for installers at all.

Just an extra double-click, but more clicking for people who want to download it all ;) (they exist!)

Not really. You just install the 32-bit version 2 times and that's it.
Then I won't have to double check the exchange rates

I still use 32 bit plugs mainly and I have no complaints with that. I prefer them to be honest, simply because there are so many fantastic older plugs that are 32 bit only and I'd hate to leave them behind. I hope 32 bit never goes away but alas, I'm sure it will in due time...

But as many people pointed out you could also well use a DAW that bridges 32-bit VSTs seamlessly.

I wish Reaper could make the 32 bit plugins look like 64 plugins. The extra little window bugs me.

Right, but I mainly use FL Studio and have no intentions of changing DAWs, so until FL goes full 64 bit (which I'm doubting it ever will), I'm more or less stuck with 32. Sure FL has the bridge, but it's clunky and takes forever to load 64-bit stuff.

When i said seamlessly, i meant it. :)
You can make it so that little window is not displayed anymore for a plugin of your choice.

Add FX window.
Right click on the plugin.
Run As
Embed bridged UI

REAPER will remember this setting.
Few months later you may catch yourself not even remembering if that plugin was 64 or 32 bit. ;)

Oh bloody hell! How long have I been missing out on that one? But how unstable does it make some plugins, is that a big issue?

That's true for VST2 in Windows, but not true for VST3 or AXX. Also, it's not true AT ALL in Mac OS X.
