i'm affraid there is no "resolution" parameteron the BCR presets file :(
is this possible that it only works on BCF files ?
this would be strange not to have the parameter for the same encoder type...
gotta tell behringer to update it !

Post

very interesting information :
http://www.lescristauxliquident.org/jpe ... 20mini.jpg
it seems that the "resolution" parameter is only featured in the preset files dumped FROM THE BCR, and not on the preset files availiable on behringer website that I explored with XVI32...
if someone has the dump tool on its computer, it would be nice to have a look on a dump and see if the string is there ?!

BCR2000 (knobs) worth to buy?? do people who have it find it easier to program instruments than with a mouse?

Post

i have two of them - i use them mainly to tweak and automate effects, though, not synths or other instruments.

Post

Yes thanks man it works Lut1G For the BCR & BCF :P :P but only if you programming the Bcr 2000 with the right syssex file because most of the presets on the internet have not the resolution trick inside the syssex file .

And then hack the f**king sysex file Use this :Trick 1 or Trick 2

)--Find an Hexidecimal editor like XVI32
http://www.chmaas.handshake.de/delphi/f ... /xvi32.htm
1)--B-CONTROL EDIT Version 0.2 beta 3
http://www.behringer.com/05_support/bc_ ... m?lang=eng
B-CONTROL EDIT Version 0.2 beta 3 (2820 KB) works not with the updated java software so delete all java and install this one jre1.4.2 /maybe 1.4.2_05 or 1.4.2_6 will also works butt no higher versions. There are older versions downloadable at www.sun.com check downloads and to see all, they are in alphabetical order .Then go into java update and turn it off .
2)--Bcr2000 Version 1.07 Optimally matched to B-CONTROL EDIT software
3)--Firmware update utility
USB MIDI DRIVER (V1.1.1.1) for BCF2000 & BCR2000 (108 KB)
4)--Find an hexadecimal editor http://www.chmaas.handshake.de/delphi/f ... /xvi32.htm

----- Trick 1 -------
Title: How to change the resolution and the acceleration of the rotary controls?
------------------------
Why: To go from 0 to 127 (or higher with 14bits) with only 1/4 of turn, for example.
--------
How:
--------

1) Make your preset
2) Remember the number(s) of the rotary(ies) you want to change (the code displayed by the display on the unit when you do EDIT+rotary)
3) Export your preset and get the .syx file with Midi-Ox or with any other program.
4) Find an hexadecimal editor (like Biew http://biew.sourceforge.net/ ) and open the .syx file
5) Locate the string "encoder NUMBER" (where NUMBER is the one you rememberd on step 2). Shortly after this, you would find ".resolution 96 96 96 96".
6) modify the numbers (the first seems to be the normal speed, the second when you turn the rotary faster,...).
7) Try and experiment with values :p

----- Trick 2 -------

AUTHOR : robinschroder :D :D :D

--1)Use Midi-Ox or equivalent to capture a sysex bulk dump of the preset on your BCR2000 you want to modify. (To send it, hold down edit and press preset -> on the BCR)
--2)Save this sysex bulk dump (probably in the region of 15000 bytes).
--3)Open it up with a Hexidecimal editor like XVI32 (which is freeware).
--4)Look down the ASCII text side of the screen within the sysex data for the encoder name you want to modify. E.g. if you want to do this to encoder 35, then hunt for 'encoder 35' within the text. There is a 'find' tool within XVI32 thankfully!
--5)Find 'resolution 96 96 96 96' within the parameters relating to your encoder number - i.e. towards the end of the other details relating to that encoder. Modify this to read 96 192 384 768 (you'll have to insert characters in order for this to fit) instead of 96 96 96 96 Now do this for the other encoders you want to accelerate.
(Note: Apparently combinations using 1536 and 3072 can be used too but that's probably only useful with 14 bit controllers)
--6)Save this back as a .syx file.
--7)Transmit this file to the BCR2000 using Midi Ox etc. and store this on the BCR.
--8)The encoders you did this to will now accelerate if you move them quickly but work normally (although a little faster maybe) if you move them slowly!

Trick: You can send a .syx file to your BCR and get it back to get this trick working if you not all ready rebuild the sysex with other syssex editors .

Mine doesn't work :S
I can get presets from the device fine, but when I try to save new ones I have created to the BCR 2000, I will get a host of errors such as:

"data without token"
while sending "$button29"
we are currently working on
"$button 29"

Timeout Error
while sending ".mode12dot"

"Invalid command"

"invalid argument"

I have tried installing JRE 5.0, 1_4_2_10 and 1_4_2_05
I have the new firmware 10 and the ver 1.1.1.1 midi drivers. This is a problem with the behringer editor :S I tried also to use the program made by "birdie" but It has errors also, usually error 22. I am using the usb cable, not midi.

What am I doing wrong?

Hi everyone,

I would like to connet the BCF2000 to 2 computers via USB and MIDI respectively and use BCF2000 in the 2 computers at the same time. I can only do that if I use OUT B as MIDI THRU. But this way, I can't use the features of the BCF2000 in 1 computer.

Is this possible?

Thank you in advance.

Cheers

Bump, anybody got any popular EQ presets for the BCR?

Post

I'm planning to get the BCR2K, mainly to control volume and pan in Cubase SX3.

Can I in an easy way make preset 1 to handle just 24 *volume* knobs and preset 2 just for 24 *panning* knobs? Is there an easy midi learn thing to do this - and save these settings - without having to drown in sysex hell?

Thanks

Post

bump. I am tempted to get BCF + BCR, but ain't so sure it will work without too much fiddling. At the end of the day it's about making some music.

Hi all,
Just wading through all the messages right now to a get a better
idea of things so forgive me if this has been asked before.

I've done all the updates (firmware and USB drivers) to my new BCF
2000 and managed to fix a problem with the BC Editor (thanks to
Behringer support) by retro grading my Java from v1.5 to 1.4.8 and
have used the Mackie and Baby HUI emulations to great effect, but
now, being able to load the actual Cubase presets from the download
page, I have grown quite fond of a few functions on these that are
absent on the emulations.

However, after loading a project(blank or otherwise) in SX (3.1),
when I go to change a fder (sometimes the rotary controllers too)
the fader for channell 7 immediately shoots down to zero.

As you can imagine this is a bit of a problem.

However, when I spoke to Behringer support about this and the BC
Edit problem, they said they had not heard of this behaviour.

Has anyone come across this and might be able to advise me how to
fix it?

Many thanks
Craig Duncan.

Coincidentally asking this question is at the top of my Stuff To Do On Good Friday list. Rather than start a new thread - which I might resort to depending on how this goes - I will ask the question here:

Is there anyone who has this device (BCF) who would like to post what they think are the two or three most heavyweight reasons for having one? I mean, when I think of how easy it is to draw panning and volume envelopes in a track...I just wonder if it will genuinely improve my workflow. I am NOT mixing a bunch of musicians live - this is just me and my DAW and my virtual instruments building songs track by track.

Big TIA,

The BCF is quite a lot less useful to me than my BCR. I don't really get a lot out of my BCF though I only run it in mackie emulation mode in cubase.

In live it will be quite useful though.

The bcr on the other hand is great for synth programming and the likes.

Turning a knob though is far more organic and therefore easier to experiment than drawing in envelopes though.

I hear you and had a good look at both, at least online. I have a very nice little MIDI controller already (Evolution MK-249c) that I use to control synth paramaters on the fly, so that wouldn't be a selling point for me. It's really the BCF I am curious about, but I am trying to envision a scenario in which I'd find it really helped my workflow in Cubase. Maybe if I can't easily envision it I should just let it drop :?

thanks,
your Holistic Ska Guy.
