There are no replacements for his stuff. His synths are unique. If there were M1 native updates to Phonem and Wavemapper I'd buy them for sure. But since there aren't, I make do with other stuff. Plus, I have so much amazing synthesis that it is not a hardship.c_voltage wrote: Thu Feb 08, 2024 3:30 am Regards Wolfgang` stuff, lol i'm amazed at how easily you guys find replacements for everything.

I agree with pxindy about WaveMapper2 being unique which is why I've talked about several synths picking up the slack: I'm not sure that any one synth can do it. And I wouldn't necessarily describe the process as "easy" (though I do totally get how you could walk away with that impression.) It's often a case of experimenting and no synth is certainly going to be able to pull off substituting for WaveMapper2 in all situations.c_voltage wrote: Thu Feb 08, 2024 3:30 am
Regards Wolfgang` stuff, lol i'm amazed at how easily you guys find replacements for everything. I can't that way. Love Aparillo though, but actually considering it as some unique thing too, not similar to anything, nor especially to WaveMapper.
In theory, if i would want to find his signature, i rather pay attention to Waldorf stuff, specifically Nave (and he have simple tts system btw, that can interact with wavetables, if i not mistake). Next perhaps could been PPG 3V, already mentioned.
(Can't say about Largo though, since a bit pain to remember about his last UI incarnation).
Interestingly, you bring up the Waldorf vst's and it's a fair and obvious place to go to remedy the situation we find ourselves in. While I can't speak about Nave, I don't find much similarity, however, between any of the Waldorf synths and WaveMapper2. While I trust that PPG Wave 3.V does a good job with its emulation of its namesake (although I hasten to add I am being speculative here as I'm not sure I ever played a hardware PPG,) it definitely presents itself as very different in overall tone from the WaveMapper2. (Largo, btw, is also in a different zone from WaveMapper2; I wouldn't compare them at all.) These comments are not at all to be taken as critique of either Waldorf's PPG Wave 3.V or Largo. They are just very different from WaveMapper2.
Of course the easy and preferred solution would simply be for Brainwork to either release WaveMapper2 themselves or sell the rights to another company (who won't sandbag it.) I think this scenario is what we who have owned WaveMapper2 wish for the most.

It's all good; I fully understood you. I just thought I'd mention the dissimilarity in the event that you might be considering it to pick up on the tone of WaveMapper2.

Wolfgang Palm synths are DEAD. I'm glad I bought just one. It's sad that someone "buys" (???) the assets just to bury them, but it is what it is. Given the time that passed, and the fact brainworx (Plugin Aliance) is not longer an independent company, but part of a consortium with Native Instruments and iZotope, I doubt anyone will ever spend time and resources in resurrecting them.

??? Just... because. A gut feeling? It would be better if we could get facts instead of speculative rants. Please.fmr wrote: Fri Jan 24, 2025 12:46 pm Wolfgang Palm synths are DEAD. Fact 1: PPG assets were bought by brainworx in 2020 (approximately FIVE YEARS AGO): https://synthanatomy.com/2020/03/wolfga ... nworx.htmlplexuss wrote: Fri Jan 24, 2025 4:32 pm??? Just... because. "PPG Synths has been bought out by Brainworks aka Plugin Alliance and finds a new home here. According to Dirk Ulrich CEO of Brainworx, they will now work closely with Wolfgang Palm together and tries to evolve the brand and products.
Fact 2: Despite all the time passed (FIVE YEARS) nothing else was announced. I enquired Wolfgang Palm directly on Facebook, and he wrote that he had nothing to say and add to the announcement of the selling.
Fact 3: Plugin Alliance merged with iZotope and Native Instruments in 2023: https://www.plugin-alliance.com/en/blog ... U-zlQKAmSe
"Plugin Alliance has united many of the best-known international audio companies under one virtual roof, including top brands AMEK, Brainworx, Lindell, Shadow Hills, Black Box Analog Design, Knif Audio, Maag, and SPL — to name just a few.
Today, we are thrilled to share some exciting news on our brand that we believe builds on our mission.
Plugin Alliance, Brainworx, and iZotope are now part of Native Instruments!
What does this mean, exactly?
As a marketplace featuring many brands and products, the customer experience here at Plugin Alliance will remain distinct, but we will continue to coordinate sales and special pricing throughout the year, just like we’re doing now with our current Summer of Sound campaign."
Note that PPG is absent from the brand list, although they end by saying say "to name just a few".
Given the facts above, I think we may take an educated guess about what happened to PPG assets.

Sounds like there is no information to inform the status one way or the other. But if you need to fill the "unknown" bucket with whatever ideas, so be it. Hopefully one day we will see PPG products again. I can think of a bunch of equally speculitive ideas pointint to a future release.

I think the stuff Wolfgang posts there is just stuff he does for shits and giggles. I suspect dude just loves programming and doing stuff with sound. I doubt that's a forthcoming product for Brainworx. He had another video a year or two ago showing some synthesis stuff too.
I've been following his channel for a while... just because I think he's crazy talented, appreciate what he's contributed to the synth world and... happy to know he's still around and keeping his mind active.

Guys, Wolfgang Palm will be at Superbooth with Native Instruments. I wonder what this could mean.
