I never realy like per voice on vsti
Hardware can be amazing, but it's often kind of tame. What are you using?

The Peak was excellent, but I felt like it was always a bit dark sounding.
I have the big brother as my main hardware synth. I never felt his sound too dark.
I also have a Virus Ti2 and a Audiothingies Micromonsta 2. Can't remenber if they have per voice distortion. Sadly. I haven't use for a while.

The Virtus TI has filter distortion. The Micromonsta 2 definitely has per-voice distortion separate from the filter.

There’s an AUv3 modular called miRack that can host other plugins. Is there anything like that for Voltage Modular or VCV?

VM can natively host any VST inside its environment. Not sure about VCV, yet guess there should be something similar.

Late answer here, but I guess you are wrong. As you edited, Falcon can do it. Phase Plant can do it also, since you can switch Fx Lanes to polyphonic.
Twin 3 has kind of 6(? as far as I remember) filters to set, which perfectly can do EQ stuff.

Mmm. My posts are only supported by the house during one year. You are on your own now.

Just kidding. You are right actually. How could I forget phase plant? One of my favourite synth... I may have been drunk.
As per Twin 3 I have it but don't remember now. I'll test home 😁

In Phase Plant the crazyness has even increased the last years, because we have not just the Slice EQ, where you can modulate each Cutoff, Gain and Q for each point you set in the EQ, but now we have also the Filter Table, which allows some kind of "real" morphing.

Hosting in VCV available as a (paid) module.

Red is Red and anything that is Red is an object, a class in itself or a real thing if you prefer"

I don’t think so. There used to be VAZ Modular, but it was discontinued a long time ago.

Yes very true... And all this power accessible with such an intuitive interface, what a treat.

Last year I had a s-load of SFX to churn out quickly and Phase Plant became my go-to. Quick, easy to use, lots of audio rate mayhem, and sounds great. It's supplanted (pun intended) Dune as my go-to modern wavetable synth. My only complaint is that I wish it had a good selection of classic analog filter models.

Yes, I think the world agrees with you.

But I don't.

If it was having the best analog filters in the market, what would the other vendors do?

And us? What would we do with only one perfect synth?
It is much funnier to have plenty of imperfect synths.

Kidding aside, they probably couldn’t implement high quality analog modeled filters to the standard of more simple synthesizers, like those from UAD or Softube. When Synapse put their analog modeled filters in Dune, they mentioned that they were simplified versions of what was in their dedicated analog emulations. Modern CPUs have a way to go before that level of modeling can happen along side a lot of audio rate modulation. Maybe they could compromise and put a “HQ” button on the filter interface, like they do for some of the distortion effects. Even with all that, Phase Plant wouldn’t have all the other analog modeling and features, so I’m sure we’d all keep our other “imperfect” synths.
