Chrompahone 3 has been horrible for me cpu wise.. seems to be something wrong with the interface cause if I mess with the controls on the first two pages.. it does not like that.
Makes it unusable for me compared to 2.
Can’t really think of anything comparable to the synths mentioned. The FM synth from Voltage Modular can give results similar to Algorithm but it’s not as fast to dial in. Same with F’em, it’s just not as fast.
If you like Friktion you’ll probably like Kontour. But again not the same and not as fast.
Parsec you can kind of do with Razor or Loom2.

Talking about REs, I'd love if they took a break from instruments for a bit and refreshed the FX and utilities offer.
For example:
For example:
- a flexible EQ with great graphical interface;
- a multiband compressor / expander / limiter / transient designer;
- a multi-FX, like StutterEdit or Infiltrator;
- all-in-one tool that elegantly splits & merges CV and audio signal into left/right, mid/side, frequency bands;
- a new modulation unit combining - and expanding on? - LFOs, MSEGs and Env. Followers existing already in Sweeper

So, antic and Slic, have you upgraded or will you wait and see like me?

I upgraded to R11 from a free copy of intro in that last 40% off sale and got the 12 upgrade free.TribeOfHǫfuð wrote: Fri Sep 03, 2021 3:14 pm So, antic and Slic, have you upgraded or will you wait and see like me?
I am also on the $3 sub trial so I have it both ways!

Well up and running trialling this now and first thoughts are that they added some good features. Combi 2 is pretty slick and mimic is pretty good too (like the preserve transients button). It is very much a build for the daw and not plugin at the moment though which I know lots will be happy about.
I use live with rrp and seems an oversight for mimic not to be able to use live samples. Already knew that the right click to add combi control did not work in rrp but combi is still easy to work with. Combi 2 however is much slicker in the reason daw with this feature hence why I think these things need a bit of work on the rrp. The rrp manual states you can right click to assign so unsure if the manual is wrong or they plan for this to work in the future. Bit like the adding combinator to combinator claim, perhaps we will see this or it may be a typo. If I was still a reason daw user I may consider this at £129 but as a rrp user it needs to have a few tweaks for me personally.

I agree with pretty much all that list. Although subs are not for me I have often thought where + may particularly be weak as an all in one solution for someone starting in music production. M class etc are ok but if you added the your list it would be so much slicker.antic604 wrote: Fri Sep 03, 2021 3:03 pm Talking about REs, I'd love if they took a break from instruments for a bit and refreshed the FX and utilities offer.

Eg.Last time I did a reason devices only track i had tons of parametric eq where a reason version of pro q3 would have been so much simpler.

You seem to be good at the game of saving money and exploit sales. I have no patience for that, but you do convince me there are savings to make if I had.SLiC wrote: Fri Sep 03, 2021 3:20 pm I upgraded to R11 from a free copy of intro in that last 40% off sale and got the 12 upgrade free.

I'm really not that clever or calculating, the sale just tempted me to buy something I didn't really need! (But I am glad I did now!)TribeOfHǫfuð wrote: Fri Sep 03, 2021 3:38 pmYou seem to be good at the game of saving money and exploit sales. It's nowhere close to either of the 2 I mentioned and also cannot be triggered by CV or MIDI note which is the most crucial feature.
Basically Reason's FX suite reflects the expected standards of 10-15 years ago, when most of them were introduced. It's time for upgrade. We have enough synths.

Can't many (if not most) of these just be used in Reason (DAW) as VST? I know Infiltrator has a VST2 option at least.antic604 wrote: Fri Sep 03, 2021 3:03 pm Talking about REs, I'd love if they took a break from instruments for a bit and refreshed the FX and utilities offer.

Sure, but why would I want to use VSTs in Reason?EnochLight wrote: Fri Sep 03, 2021 4:42 pmCan't many (if not most) of these just be used in Reason (DAW) as VST? I know Infiltrator has a VST2 option at least.

I upgraded to Reason 12 (I mostly use it as the Rack plugin inside Ableton Live) and I dig the new sampler and new combinator. My main gripe is that there is a notable lag whenever I drag and drop items (instruments and effects) from the reason browser into the rack (both in the DAW and the rack plugin). I remember it being faster, before.... but there is notable 'pause' before the device actually appears. Just makes things feel a bit clunkier.
The browser itself does perform searches much faster, as promised. Mimic is fast & fun, albeit nothing groundbreaking in the realm of soft-samplers. But since Reason is the one DAW with an actual 'sampling' button on devices, it can, in fact, truly 'sample' when in the DAW.
In the rack, having a sampler with zero tabs / menus where everything is just 'right there' is definitely nice, though TAL sampler can do most of what it can do (but, notably, Mimic can do both modern and retro time-warping whereas TAL only does the very retro warp).

Maybe because it's a DAW with VST support, for starters.antic604 wrote: Fri Sep 03, 2021 4:46 pmSure, but why would I want to use VSTs in Reason?EnochLight wrote: Fri Sep 03, 2021 4:42 pmCan't many (if not most) of these just be used in Reason (DAW) as VST? I prefer to not use VSTs there if I don't have tomholloway wrote: Fri Sep 03, 2021 4:50 pmMaybe because it's a DAW with VST support, for starters.antic604 wrote: Fri Sep 03, 2021 4:46 pmSure, but why would I want to use VSTs in Reason?EnochLight wrote: Fri Sep 03, 2021 4:42 pmCan't many (if not most) of these just be used in Reason (DAW) as VST? Also, what kind of argument is that againt me preferring for Reason Studios to focus for a bit on FX/utilities instead of instruments? There's probably even more VST instruments than effects, so they shouldn't be making those either.
