Is Tape Emulation allowed? Please advise. Thanks.

If you use it for subtle saturation and not drastic pitch modulation, then why not?

I use Ferric TDS all the time to add a little saturation and compression on my master.

That's OK. Used it on the track above. Just gives it all a little more "presence". I wind the saturation up so I can A/B it via bypass, then dial it back until it makes a small but nice difference. Same for the compression, but listening for a different "effect/colour" to to the final sound.

This is my entry for KVR OSC #154
13 Instances of Triple Cheese in VCV Rack 2, using the "Host" module.
Loudmax limiter using the "Host FX" module.
Various sequencers, clocks, Bernouli switches.
LFOs and things to directly modulate parameters of the cheese (nothing too crazy).
Mindmeld MixMaster, Auxpander and EQMaster modules.
Plateau reverb module.
Chronoblob and Tap Dancer delay modules.

My robot decided he wanted to have a big ol' greasy triple cheeseburger, and made himself a greasy mess. I spent hours getting all the melty cheese out of his wiring harnesses.

My first time ever using Triple Cheese and I fully understand all the praise for it in the thread! From now on I will use it all the time, love it! :tu:

Wonderful track! Flowing subtly but steadily. It makes me visualize a busy ants trail :)
The more I hang around at KVR the less music I make.

Hello everyone :D

I'm back, participating for the second time in the KVR One-Synth-Challenge.

Compared to the plugin from the October OSC (WhispAir), I think TripleCheese is way more versatile when it comes to sound design (or maybe I just like the sounds better, idk).

Track Info (UPDATED):
- Made in Ableton Live 11;
- 18 instances of the plugin were used;
- Ableton Plugins: Utility; EQ Eight; Overdrive; Cabinet; Drum Buss; Glue Compressor; Multiband Dynamics; Limiter; Reverb; Hybrid Reverb; Auto-Pan.
- Other Plugins: ValhallaSuperMassive.

My song for this month's challenge is called "Drift"! I hope you enjoy it. :)

- Other Plugins: ValhallaShimmer; ValhallaVintageVerb; ShaperBox2;
The rules for this round mean you can only use FREE or Host DAW plugins ... you may need to change these ...

Best to let you know asap ...

thank you for letting me know. I didn't pay much attention since I used paid plugins in the last challenge I entered. There must've been some kind of confusion. I'll make some changes (and re-read the rules!) and submit the new track. Thank you, once again! :)

No problem. The rules for allowing paid plugins was relaxed last round. It happens now and then. Also, don't use modulating plugins which alter the sound of the synth too much - e.g. deep phasing! Modulating plugins can be used, but in "moderation" (you choose what this means!!!).

Is that a new adjustment to the rules? I just always assumed that modulation was verboten!

I'm not complaining, though - that (self-imposed??) restriction was very useful for me when I started out doing these challenges a few years ago. Previously I had always used especially chorus modulation extensively to create artificial width, depth and to thicken my tracks, and missing that option I was suddenly forced to go deeper and understand how that space and effect can be created and replaced efficiently by more thoughtful and informed mixing. (edit: and arranging!)

So if that was a misunderstanding... thank you, misunderstanding!
