as you like quotes so much, can you go find them? i didn't see any accusing the OP of being a scammer. so how much heavy lifting is "basically" doing here?whyterabbyt wrote: Thu Mar 09, 2023 10:01 am now lets see apologies from those who were basically accusing the OP of being a scammer.

Always happy too.
Personally, I’m just happy the OP and FabFilter worked things out. Ultimately that’s the success most of us here were looking for.

Happy to see this resolved.
Fabfilter is one of my favorite companies for many years now. There’s always someone that will try to take advantage of a weakness for quick money, so I wish them luck with fixing those weaknesses.

Congratulations to OP for regaining access to their FabFilter account!
I’m aware that my opinion won’t be very well accepted by the board, but I want to share it anyway.
Now that the dust had settled I’m a little bit disappointed about why OP was punished just on the presumption of possible infringement to begin with and how was the problem handled by the developer. Also by the fact that OP had to make noise here and then contact FabFilter for a second time to have his problem resolved. Yet it took FabFilter three freaking days to restore his account. And of course this forum rant thread had eventually came to the attention of FabFilter, I don’t have any doubts about this. So they had to do some crisis management (too late IMO).
One might only wonder what could have happened, should OP decided to leave his deactivated account issue private…
In future I will think twice before buying from FabFilter.

You’re obviously entitled to your opinion and you certainly get to decide how do you spend your money.marina wrote: Thu Mar 09, 2023 5:19 pm Congratulations to OP for regaining access to his FabFilter account!

In future I will thank twice before buying from FabFilter.
You might consider that FabFilter did the right thing when presented with the evidence. They have a lot of users and probably have to deal with issues like this all the time. It’s tough to be perfect every interaction, but a good company shows their value by ultimately doing the right thing.
Also consider their FAQ and the service they offer to verify licenses for sale before the transaction, which would have saved the OP a lot of trouble.

a lot of assumptions there. we don't know that the OP is telling the whole truth about how this came to their attention. we don't know when the OP provided information to fabfilter on the trades they'd made – the first post was halfway through tuesday, central european time. the issue was resolved by early this morning, so that's closer to a day and a half, worst case.marina wrote: Thu Mar 09, 2023 5:19 pm Congratulations to OP for regaining access to his FabFilter account!

we don't know that fabfilter would not have resolved it without the forum rant. and given that they looked at the paypal receipts, eventually provided by the OP, without a problem, it seems unlikely to me. don't forget, their first email (which we don't know was quoted in its entirety by the OP) ended with "any questions, let us know". that's not exactly, "we deactivated your account, now sod off". instead, much of the OP's time was spent here ranting about how they were going to do nothing about it other than rant about it.
you also seem to be confused by "infringement" here. as i posted way back on tuesday, as there was the concern that the account might be being used to launder stolen licences, locking it makes sense as it makes it a lot easier to place them back with the rightful owner(s) once all the documentation is in place. as i wrote at least twice, OP would not have lost the ability to use the plugins during that time as they don't use C/R and downloads are on the open site.

Anyway, happy for OP.
Developers shouldn't cancel accounts/licenses based only on something they deem "suspicious". Where is the due process in all this? Where is the clear evidence the user broke the EULA?
I know developers are small in this industry but they also take advantage of customers with few resources to sue them when they abuse their position. Sometimes it feels like the wild west with total disregard to consumer protection laws.
And all developers should be denouncing criminal activity to the authorities if they suspect it.
