All of their version 2 stuff is pretty cpu heavy imo. At least on my old processor. Not overly
in any hurry to upgrade myself.

(i don't see it, but D16 had it time limited for other recent upgrades, right?)
Cross-grade code is limited to 1/4. I assume the ugprade is as well.

When the other drum machine was update to v2 I wondered if my update offer of 29 would go away after the intro sale. It did not. It's still there. Same with Lush 2 - the 39 upgrade remained. So I think the upgrade prices are fixed and will be offered any anytime. That's what it seems.

Not true, the price went up to 49 until black friday. Since then it's 29 again.

If you disable the effect section, the CPU is very reasonable (even low, I'd dare to say).
A sequenced beat with all instruments running take less than 1% on my 6 years old computer...

Just a technical question for my help : in MacOS (14.1.2) , where are the presets stored, factory and user ?

I managed to contact their forums but the inscription is done manually by the administrator, so it takes time !

Post

/Library/Application Support/D16 Group/Nepheton 2/Presets
/Users/*yourname*/Library/Application Support/D16 Group/Nepheton 2/UserStore

thank you

:tu: :tu: :tu:

"Users/*yourname*/Library/Application Support/D16 Group/Nepheton 2/UserStore" ...but this path doesn't exist in my system ????????

though all custom presets are stored somewhere ?

Post

CORRECTION : should have talk about the factory AND user scenes (and related factory and user drum kit)

my bad, I neglect to consider the peculiar terminology of d16 drum machines !

...can anyone tell me clearly where to find them in my Mac ? (MacOS 14.1.2)

Post

scenes and drum kits folders are in the folder
"Users/ your name goes here /Library/Application Support/D16 Group/Nepheton 2/UserStore"

from there it's ok but then there's nothing similar (no library folder and any subfolders inside)...maybe I did a special routing that works but doesn't give a file path, I don't know what went on ?

P.S. I'm still waiting for the validation of my registration on d16 group forums, so don't worry too much!

i've been on the middle oversampling though, i need to select Ultra or whatever next time i open Nepheton.

So good to have it back in my kit. Thank you D16 Group!
Unfortunately, I have the same feeling. I had hoped to get a bit closer to it too. There is still something different in my perception.

I think it's a fantastic drum machine on it's own with an 808 inspired sound that I fully recommend to have. I'm even not saying a 808 is better. But I'm still not 100% satisfied as an emulation.

How do you think some time later sqigls?

i think that you need to find your own 'mastering' chain for it really. And remove EVERY onboard effect including mastering effects. As much as i like D16 effects like Godphazer, for me - the onboard effects included with Nepheton 2 are just passable. As a raw initialized preset i love it. I have tons of great third party effects so it's exciting for me to have one meticulously modelled 808 in floating form :)
Really, it's a godsend. So happy with it. but I know i'm gonna be using the onboard effects and convoluted fx chains very rarely.

I'll attach one of my default drum kits if anyone's interested.
OZ Default.np2dmk.zip

also i should add, I encourage experimenting with hi-hat chains such as enhancers, saturators and de-essers... one of my secret weapons is AudioThing's Type B, which allows me to tune hats, then i add a de-esser after the fact. Still, for me, lacks a lot of the magic of the actual 808 hats. I think this is down to the difficulty of modelling the components, especially the faulty ones :P
