It’s worth it to install Luna just because it creates preset folders for all your plugins
in your vst3 presets directory. Which is pretty cool when you have near a couple thousand plugins. :tu:

Looks like some GUI improvements.

ARA integration will be in the free version, Hardware Insert is a plugin in Luna Pro

Existing Luna Pro owners get Luna Pro 2.0 for free. It's not clear if Luna Pro 2.0 just adds the hardware insert plugin, or if it adds any other extensions or plugins.
So there'll be two tiers, rather than just a free version, as it is now?

What's the source by the way?

Indeed - they reworked the track-headers, which was the - otherwise great - GUIs weak point.

It's the same as the current system. Luna Pro Bundle is $99 and includes a long list of plugins and important extensions, one of which will now be Hardware Inserts.
What's the source by the way?

There’s this. They’ve been announcing bits here:

Luna Pro is a set of Luna-embedded plugins (but also has VST versions for some of them too). The update to Luna Pro 2.0 is free for current Luna Pro owners.

The hardware insert delay compensation plugin is a plugin, so it'll be in Luna Pro.

ARA isn't a plugin, and it's needed for several important 3rd-party plugins to work, so it's in the base free version of Luna.

Up until now Luna Pro has been solely a plugin bundle... it doesn't add any actual features to Luna itself.
The "extensions" are Luna-specific plugin interfaces, a bit like Sonar's Pro Channel or Studio One's Mix Engine.

I see - thanks!

It's not worth having a discussion about.

Maybe not, however I think it's a noteworthy change in their approach when they start to release LunaPro-only features. Mind you: I'm not criticing it (at all) - just wondering if that new two tier thing is something they'll expand upon in the future.

Here's how Drew himself put it by the way:
ARA is part of LUNA free, HWI is part of the new LUNA Pro Bundle
(highlighting of the important (perhaps easy enough to miss) bit by me)

I would guess yes, although these two features were the big ones everybody was asking for and I can't imagine what they would charge for in the future.

The hardware insert is a "plugin".

This is really just semantics. Whether using Steinbergs VST protocol, or Luna's embedded 'plugins', or a daw with processing built into every channel, it's all just processing digital audio.

Luna has always had it's best feature locked behind spending money.

At least Luna Pro is cheap... :D anyone who can afford gear to run as inserts can certainly afford Luna Pro.

Ah, I see...

At some point everything is just semantics, even whether something is just semantics (or not), so that's a rather moot thing to say...

The luna pro page got updated with this tidbit: "Buy LUNA Pro Today, upgrade to LUNA Pro 2.0 FREE on 10/21. Including hardware inserts, 15 additional plug-ins, and more!"
