Actually didnt check it out yet, but seems no oversampling here right?

Tell me you are completely proving my point without telling me you are completely proving my point. Slamdunkmholloway wrote: Wed Feb 12, 2025 6:12 pm who said anything about expertise? are we all required to have the same opinions when companies launch new products? we can't say we think the company is releasing unexciting products? again, where does "expertise" fit in here? I see people responding to a hype campaign / company product announcement and saying: "yawn, softube's latest products are not exciting," including myself. But you need to criticize this subjective response, because it's "inexpert" ?![]()

Softube = 70% beautiful GUI, 30% dsp. Ever since the announcement of TrackWarmth, every new saturation plugins are just extremely boring nowadays. I really think most of us aren't bored because it's another saturation plugin, it's because it's just a new plugin with the same old outdated modelling technique that makes the high end harsh and breaks up with digital artifacts even at slightly extreme setting that will never match the hardware unlike The Scream for example.

Yeah, why would anyone want to have more than 1 of a processor type. They all sound exactly the same, amirite guys?mholloway wrote: Tue Feb 11, 2025 8:59 pm Ableton 12 has ROAR which is an amazing Saturator that offers a multi-band mode and a whole lot more, and it's Stock with the DAW... why any ableton user would want to pay 150 bucks for a "retro" multiband Saturator when they already have Roar.... there's just no good reason, at all.
Granted that's just the Ableton crowd, but I dunno, Softube seems to have run out of ideas for what = an "exciting" emulation. I realize the teaser is just generic marketing 101, but still, the idea that anybody would see this reveal and be like "OH WOW, YES!" is.... a bit of a joke. and at this price point, it's a really, really bad joke.
If it sounds close to the hardware it is easily worth $150 to people who have the money and want that sound. If you're not part of that group, cool story. Not everything has to be specifically for you. Softube are absolutely not trying to cater to people saying "don't get a plugin because there's one of the same general type built into your DAW!". You are not even a fleeting thought to them.

Softube pretty much always have good built in oversampling in all of their effects that create harmonics. I'm pretty sure this one is internally at least 4x over sampled. That seems to be the norm for most Softube plugins and synths.El°HYM wrote: Wed Feb 12, 2025 6:13 pm Actually didnt check it out yet, but seems no oversampling here right?
They are also one of the few companies who seem to take their time to really listen to what sounds good vs bad. Many of their plugins have slightly different slopes for their anti-aliasing filters and they pretty much always go for minimum phase type of over sampling which in my opinion is a good thing as long as the phase shift is kept really high up in the frequency spectrum (which they usually do).
They don't always get it perfect though as seen with Console 1 where it's OS is noticeable but it needs to be a jack of all trades kind of thing as you can load almost every one of their plugins into it's wrapper. It's also noticeable due the application of Console 1, loading an instance of it on almost every single channel in a project being the norm.. thus when you compare a initialized Console 1 session vs all plugins bypassed, there will be a tiny difference in audio output.

They could up OS in this plugin by another 2x, 4x...it would greatly help.bmanic wrote: Thu Feb 13, 2025 8:42 pm Softube pretty much always have good built in oversampling in all of their effects that create harmonics. It's possible yeah.. especially when doing harder saturation in the highs it would most likely reduce the harshness somewhat.HcDoom wrote: Thu Feb 13, 2025 9:07 pm They could up OS in this plugin by another 2x, 4x...it would greatly help.

Hmm however wait, i did check how it had before (thru Wayback Machine), it turns out that this was not in form of separate pdf for each plugin. Was couple big pdf's like: for modular, for instruments (synths), and big single pdf for all other plugs.
Just, got my hands on Modular pdf saved once, accidentally, so, thought that the same should be for each plug (what not confirm).
Then it less critical perhaps.
Although, really considering prices such major company seems could be find resources to maintain offline manual versions (even per plug).
UPD
If someone still need pdf, i have "Softube Modular User Manual - 20201030.pdf", and main "Softube Plug-Ins User Manual-20200623.pdf". Despite number in file name (seems mean revision data 2020), both downloaded in 2022.
https://www.mediafire.com/file/zwyicfbr ... 2.rar/file
But i not have for instruments, if someone grabbed share pls.
(Or if someone has more latest revisions, although seems it was latst. And pdfs removed from the site seems in 2023)

Ugh I really hate "online" manuals. Just let me download the MFer, a-holes.
