Loving the versatile and the smooth algos. Extremely useful.
I think versatile will be my default. It's very er...versatile. A ton of different tones and behaviours but never feels random or unpredictable.
I love what it does in side mode. It's a fantastic widener without drawing attention to itself. Just dipping out some of the areas in the sidechain eq adds width without sounding contrived.
Great job bmanic.
The Vari Mu has an extremely convincing and pleasing character and really does react well to different settings.
There's a huge amount packed in here that I'm only scratching the surface of.

I never liked the gain compensation in Pro-C 2, to my ears it was always quite off. Is it the same with this new version ?

Download the demo and try out the 6 new algorithms. It's the only way to find out.Nantho wrote: Fri Jan 16, 2026 2:45 pm I never liked the gain compensation in Pro-C 2, to my ears it was always quite off. Is it the same with this new version ?
Also, please check out the presets. I don't usually recommend presets in compressors but I've spent a HUGE amount of time on them, curating a set that is hopefully useful. Every single one has a description of what it's useful on and how it was intended to be used. I've even included the optimal Gain Reduction range the preset was design for.. so just load up a preset and adjust threshold accordingly (or the 'Mix' slider) to get the optimal amount of GR for your project.

Use a more expensive DAW, easyVortifex wrote: Fri Jan 16, 2026 3:34 pm Maybe I'm becoming miserly in my old age but the thought of paying more for a compressor than I paid for my entire DAW just feels wrong

The upgrad price is pretty steep. It's not worth it for me but maybe for someone who uses Pro-C a lot, it might be. I did keep up with Q though but I dont recall the upgrade price being nearly as much as what they are asking for. *shrug* Not a high priority for me, Pro-C2 works well enough. I'd upgrade for $30 or less.Vortifex wrote: Fri Jan 16, 2026 3:34 pm Maybe I'm becoming miserly in my old age but the thought of paying more for a compressor than I paid for my entire DAW just feels wrong

While I'd gladly have paid less, the upgrade price seems good to me. It's one hell of a versatile compressor. Still missing a few nice to haves (e.g., tempo sync). I expect to use Pro-C3 80% of the time I want a compressor, so ~$80 (with tax) seems fair.
Auto gain compensation - try it, adjust it, and turn it off if it doesn't sound how you want. I wouldn't buy the compressor for that feature, however.
I expect to be using The Glue v2 on the mixbus when it's finally released, so not everything will be Pro-C3 everywhere all at once.

Even with a bit of discount for the upgrade from C2 at JRR Shop using FORUM, it's still way too expensive.

Its a pass for me, again, as with C2.

60€ for me, absolutely fair given it's my goto. And with its new features, it helps me reducing my plugin count (like no volume shaper plugin needed anymore for basic pumping). I welcome those small changes. Different lookahead latencies alone is something that will have impact in my mixes. Auto-threshold was something I was skeptical of, but now that I've tried it, I've already found cases to use it. As usual from FabFilter it's a very stable release (VST and CLAP tested). Though it's not necessarily a feature of Pro-C3, the instance mixing in Pro-Q4 is awesome!

Like this one honestly. But at this moment I have so many compressors, so I will wait the discount for this one.
