So not only is it the best sound font player on the market – but the guys that purchased early got the bonus giga v2 support – But I don’t think if you purchase it now it has it – best thing to do is ask René in the rgc audio forum if SFZ+ can read giga 2 files or not.

But for sure this is the best free or otherwise piano I have used to date on the PC (using SFZ+) I can hear how well this has been recorded – it must have taken ages of painstaking micing and tuning to achieve – an excellent giga font – big thanks to matt for the piano font.
Just wanted to say thanks again to those guys who worked out the mechanics of getting this fine file to us. :)

I successfully loaded it in the early version of SFZ+. Though I only have a few dozen giga files to use, having SFZ+ has really been a boon to my sequencing because of the quality of what I did manage to find on the web. This piano is quite nice.

Both MacRar and Stuffit can read selfextracting .exe files made with WinRar or WinZip.
sascha, you think this also works in OS9? (just making shure before I again download this biggie)
I always thought .exe for macs is like beef for rabbits :hihi:

Well... not sure about OS9 - you better look on Stuffit's and MacRar's sites before downloading.

I seem to remember (but please don't take my word on this...) that MacRar was supposed to open selfextracting .exe files since quite some time - maybe well before OSX appeared. Better have a look about that!

Thanks to all involved for this piano! This definitely was a worthwhile download.

One issue though that I suspect is related to translating the .gig file. I am using Kompakt and have noticed the sound noticeably jumps from one velocity layer to the next with no cross-fading. This is particularly noticeable in the bass notes.

Can anyone confirm whether there is cross-fading in the native .gig file? Or perhaps there is a Kontakt user out there that has created their own .nki or multi with cross-fading?

Thanks. RNCMKG

I downloaded the file yesterday and converted it to Emulator X format. It sounds great.

I also noticed the velocity switching, but I assumed it was normal. I suspect that velocity crossfading could be touchy if there were even slight phase differences between samples; depending on how the strings respond to hard impulses, this could screw up the attack no matter how careful you were...

...or am I wrong? I suppose I could try crossfading some of it and see...

The release sounds maybe a bit long to me. Would any Gigastudio users care to quote a release time on any of the samples, so I can make sure it converted correctly?

Thanks for this to all involved. A good piano. :D

Hi everyone,

I've been looking for this piano for months! Please can someone tells me from where I can download this file?

Thanks in advance.

Thanks guys, it certainly is a wonderful piano and really pleased to have it at the auditorium. :)

Foxy! When you log in here http://audioshots.com/auditorium/ in the sounds section another forum will appear called Very Large Files, navigate to this and click on the thread in there, everything will become apparent from there on in, any problems, just post somewhere.

Best regards,

Peter

hi Spe3D,
i wonder if this file is still available for download. i finally have enough bandwidth to DL it, so i tried to locate the piano soundfont on your site just now, but i cannot find it. i am kinda a blind bat, so maybe the link to it is not down after all?

at any rate, thanks for your generosity for (having hosted) hosting the file.
:)

Thanks blixa :)

It’s a very big file blixa (a 391MB download), and as such cannot have it as an open link like the other files on the Auditorium. If you log in, a new section will appear in the sounds part called ‘Very Large Files’ - in there is the download and info about the gigafont piano – still available for download too :D

Best regards,

Peter
