tbh I didn’t really want a 5 string version, but the deal was too good. Even comes with flatwounds and I was expecting to have to cough up for a set of those on top of whatever I bought. Do like the clean body on yours reminds me of my Grey Aerodyne tele. Fuss free.

Totally fuss free. I never touch the blend pot (strictly P-Bass) and the tone pot isn't even hooked up.

I had the opportunity to try some proper delays, and was this close to getting a Boss DD-200 (holding my fingers very close together), then the seller asked me if I had tried the TCE 2290 P and it just clicked right away. It might not be as versatile as the DD-200, it does exactly what I like though, nice 80's retro feel. The Hotone Verbera is finally on the way, it has been out of stock for a while where I purchased it, at least the price has gone down since then. I also ordered a EH Tri Parallel Mixer, you can run up to three different pedals in parallel and mix them together with it, so sounds like something I would enjoy

Just received a made in china Squier tele for $160 OTD. Beautiful guitar players better than Player IIs I’ve checked out lately. Steal.

To each their own. I personally love my MIM player II modified stratocaster with noiseless pups.

Couldn’t resist and copped another made in china strat for $127 OTD, used the $30 coupon that came with the tele. Less than $300 for two guitars. I’m in. I’m not missing my Gibson Les Paul in the least and enjoying the hell our of my Neve pre; forget an amplifier lol that’s for the birds.

I got a Randall RH150 G3 150 watt solid state/hybrid amp for 200 quid. The tube is not in the preamp as in my experience they usually are, it's in the power amp, described as a "tube-driven mosfet power amp". It's probably the best sounding solid state amp I've heard ever

I also got a '90s Hughes & Kettner Attax 100 combo, which I purchased for 50 quid just to get the speaker. An Eminence V12 Rockdriver made for H&K, well worth the 50 quid alone. The amp is a solid state/hybrid with a tube in the preamp and sounds ok, not bad, not that good either. All the knobs are more or less scratchy, so all the pots needs cleaning. It's a free amp as far as I'm concerned though

My most recent significant guitar gear purchase was the Line 6 Helix.
While there are newer and perhaps more capable modellers around these days, more features and more processing power or model accuracy hasn't convinced me to upgrade yet. What I needed was enough footswitches and a pedal, and at the time the Helix seemed to be the best option.
The only real problem I have with it is its size and weight .. hoping the next thing I buy can solve that problem for me.

I bought Wampler Phenom not too long ago. I always hear that it's inspired by a 5150, but I usually play it at more moderate settings and really like it there, but it can sound great at any gain level.
I also picked up a JHS OilCan delay. It's not that realistic of an emulation but has some good sounds in it.

I only ever need six stomp box presets or six patches at any given time so the Pod Go is working great for me. It's no helix. I love it all the same. gets me in the ballpark.Tom Trnk wrote: Mon Oct 20, 2025 3:02 pm My most recent significant guitar gear purchase was the Line 6 Helix.

This arrived today:
PRS SE DGT Tobacco Burst. I tried out a Jazzmaster Player ii, but the offset body didn’t suit me well, and the action was stiff. Sent back. I didn’t have an electric with a functional whammy bar, so after more research I decided on this. I was wary of the neck profile, as PRS’ ‘wide-thin’ doesn’t suit my left hand and playing style at all. This a DGT neck profile, which is closer to a Gibson. This one is a keeper! Beautiful instrument, well thought out, no significant issues out of the box. Pic doesn’t do it justice. The bird inlay at the 21st fret looks like Tweety hit the ground with a SPLAT!
And that is about as close to a pointy headstock as I’ll ever get!

Ibanez Mikro short scale bass

Our band does not have a bass player so the other guitarist and I take turns on this bass if a song really needs that low end. Short scale basses are easier for those of us who are used to guitar scale lengths.
Airline Mandosteel

These are currently on sale and about to be discontinued. Nice for a lap steel starter like me but I can see why they were not very popular with pro lap steel players. Those string pairs are terribly out of tune when you try to do a slant.

Congrats, the Mikro are adorable little instruments. As a bass player I can verify it was a good choice - and even shorter scale than short scalemountainmaster wrote: Fri Oct 31, 2025 12:59 pm Ibanez Mikro short scale bass

And yeah, you aren’t gonna just develop the reach and shifting techniques needed for a full scale bass overnight. However I think you’ll find you have lots of advantages coming in to bass playing.
If you want a good bass guitar beginner course check out Josh Fossgreen’s “Beginner to Badass”, it’s the best one out there.
