OK, Thanks Everyone!
Distorted Horizon, Can you explain the spectrum pictures.
It's hard to see if there is anything wrong with either of them.

-With Fathom I hear some high pitch sound when I play from lower octaves, that I don't hear in for example Diversion, Sylenth, Serum...... Kinda ringing/whistling sound (are you people really so old that you've lost the high register?FathomSynth wrote:DH, What exactly are you seeing or hearing that is different.
The pictures look pretty much the same except that Fathom has limited partials,
which will change in the next release.
Which oscillator are you using.
Is there a problem? Please explain?
Which picture is Fathom?
-Analog saw
-Basically no problem, unless I want to use Fathom on low octaves (few FX sounds impossible to make because of that whistling). Don't you think it's an issue that sound is cut from 4k Hz?
-That left one which is labeled "fathom".
Well I'll test again then if the issue has disappearedFathomSynth wrote:Fathom has limited partials, which will change in the next release.

The one on the left, which is Fathom, has partials up to 4K but nothing higher.
The one on the right has frequency content all the way up to 22K.
If anything should sound like it is whistling it should be the one on the right.
If you do hear a high pitched whistling sound why is it not showing up on your spectrum graphs.
Those graphs are very sensitive and it would show up as a spike in the high frequencies.
Are you sure it does not sound that way because there is less HF rather than more,
and you are just use to hearing the HF partials in other synths?
Can you post a recording of it? Sorry if you did already and I missed it.
Which oscillator is this, and which host are you using?

To me it sounds like a whistle from bit reducer or linear phase eq maybe.. Anyways, I'll look into it again this evening.
Not sure what it is, but I'm sure that I don't hear it on rest of my synths.
Analog Saw, still.. And Bitwig.

OK, Thanks, I'll download Bitwig and try it myself.
Is detune on, or playing mono?
The analog saw oscillator uses linear table interpolation.
The wave draw oscillator uses bicubic spline interpolation. (which is better).
If you hear it with the analog saw but not the wave draw, and it is very subtle, then that is probably why.
If it is a really loud whistling then it is a bug.
Please post a recording so I can hear it.

You are not the only one I reported something similar previously http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic ... 5#p6980595Distorted Horizon wrote:To me it sounds like a whistle from bit reducer or linear phase eq maybe.. Anyways, I'll look into it again this evening.

I suspect it is psycho-acoustic which is why it doesn't show up in the spectrum analyzer and also suspect it will disappear with the next release with more partials

OK, Some great slogan ideas lately, that helps.
Tj Shredder, RPH, very good ideas.
provoc, I went back and read your post. I decided to record the whole thing in my feature list because it has some very important constructive criticism for the sound. I think your point about it being "psycho acoustic" hits it.
It is probably the lack of upper partials which is doing it, and 2.6 will be out tonight or tomorrow and we can see if that helps, I'm curious what Distorted Horizon will think of 2.6 and if it makes a difference.
The new 400 partials for all oscillators goes from A0 44 Hertz up to 22000 Hertz, like Sylenth. It also does real time partial checking so even if partials is set to 400 the higher notes will keep the exact number of partials to hit 22000 and not go over, in order to keep zero aliasing, and it uses the real time oscillator frequency which includes gliding, detuning and modulated dial frequencies.
I'm also convinced that the linear table interpolation in the analog saw is the problem, since I don't hear the same problem in the wave draw oscillator if it is set to create the same sawtooth since it uses the bicubic spline interpolation. Today for 2.6 I will try to put the spline in the analog saw for the release and see if that helps it.
Distorted Horizon, since your ears go up to 96 Kilohertz, I'm curious if you hear the same anomaly in the wave draw oscillator.
I will also try Bitwig today just to make sure it's not actually a bug.

Hehe, No, I'm just jealous you can hear over 10K.
OK, I'm testing the spline buffer on the analog saw now, cross your fingers!
Drum roll ....
