I have had a little success with sprays.
Don't be overenthusiastic about fitting the peice up
before it's dry though!
Hmm, I up a shot of my best paint job.
Inks are nice on wood grain.
Perhaps I order my next guitar in 3 hours.

That's cool you liked the Godin Eric,
It will be hopefully the most played among my new quiver,
as it has the synth access and I can find many timbres with.
It depends on how well my SM creations play.

I have a nice airbrush, hmm. Quite an art to sunburst,
maybe I can add a little of my own flavour in there.
A neck could be faded in, like black at head and clear
at the heel.

Don't start with your prize axe. Start with that throwaway guitar your too embarassed to leave out on the curb. If all else fails you can make a nice wall clock with it.

Although Max has been a very good kitteh today, I'd forgotten about him in my excitement. I'm not sure I want to leave him in the house with just Maple while I do this little trip.

GK3a or MidiFly

You know I've tried GK3a and didn't get on with it - but the Adrian Belew sig series Parker - if I could justify the cash - that would be a real word example of a dream guitar. Wow. I drool just thinking about it.

I've also really enjoyed the variax when I've played through it, but have never bought one. Hmm....

Hope you are happy with the tone and feel, that it's a worthwhile trip.
Here is a little DIY refinishing I have done.
The best finish is a washburn bass body,
but I think it will just look flawless in a photo.
This is a Huon pine nut cover I carved and painted(head needs finishing with a cabinet finisher)->

This is it in situ->

This was originally sunburst.'
It was covered in stickers and velvet contact when I got it for $100.
The neck was 'Liquid Nail'ed on and had matchsticks packing out the screwholes!
It looks good in the shot but has many rough edges.
It has a very dulcet tone now with the Duncans.
Not my next one, but I thought I'd up the hand painting.
Beautiful timber hey. I like the colour better now that I have sanded out the stain.

Ok, Floyd Rose experts.....am I to understand that the original is not designed to pull up on without having the space carved (sorry to be so dumb)

eh? I'm not following you...I have never run into a floyd that doesn't allow you to pull up on it...3 things

1. loosen the screws that hold the spring plate (the claw) to the body (the best idea imo)
2. remove 1 spring
3. change the configuration of the springs. In other words if the springs are going from say hole 1,3 and 5 in the bridge block 1,3 and 5 on the 'claw' will be looser than 1,3 and 5 on the bridge and 234 on the claw which seems to be common from the factory.

Also (but this is not the best imo) you could go a guage higher on the strings

Keep in mind that you can do a combination of the above ideas as well, but it's okay to adjust the tension with the two screws going into the wood (the claw end)...the whammy should be floating and not just in one direction.

I'm leaning away from this whole thing. In vids/reviews there is mention that this one http://guitars.musiciansfriend.com/prod ... =793873520 has the cut out so you can pull back. It is specifically mentioned as a feature where as the one I'm looking at http://guitars.musiciansfriend.com/prod ... =614234016 does NOT have this.

To add, I played a EVH at skips recently and I couldn't pull back (I don't know if it was a FR or not) So I don't know if they just meant not so much or not at all. I don't want it if you can't do crazy pull-ups!

my ritchie sambora kramer is not recessed (it hasn't been together for years though) and it pulled back but the back end of the whammy sat higher (the same with the body I was going to make into 'scarface' but that guitar broke a lot of high e strings)

Sometimes I'm a little surprised at the fact that these crazy whammies don't break strings here. I mean, I get pretty wild sometimes. Sounds like shit, but still, it's pretty aggressive.

I think it is heavenly looking.

Scratch 1 off the ultimate quiver list.

Just I will replace the knobs, they look a bit tacky to me.

I really like bends dropped(or lifted) in as a feature of the riff.
I can only do string bends pretty much, my one floating bridge is in another state, and I haven't practiced with a bar.

I'm stoked!
