It appears to me that he did answer you, when he wrote:

If you are jamming with a friend who also has a computer it's nice to be able to use the same compressor on both your elements of the mix.

Someone doing a live set may have two computers and dj mixer between them.

If you are in a band and working on a track together you may want to give a mix your band member to have a play with, or record some vocals for.
You asked for one scenario, he gave you four. I don't see what your issue is with this...and I'm not trying to be hostile either, I just don't get why you still have issues with this.

Can someone clarify what you are talking baout when saying mix-bus?
Albert Einstein: “If I were not a physicist, I would probably be a musician. I often think in music. I live my daydreams in music. I see my life in terms of music. ... I get most joy in life out of music.”

Think of it as the master output; the sum of all the busses.

May i ask you to perform a simple experiment?
Put The Glue on some submix buss containing both transients and sustained sounds (say drums+bass). Dial in some really slamming compression on The Glue with range knob at default -40 dB (slamming as in virtual needle slammin' the virtual needle stop ;) ). now back off range to taste, say somewhere between -20 and -10 dB. Do you like what you hear? Do you know any other compressor that can reproduce it easily, hard or soft?
"Dont mistake your inability to understand how this happens for it actualy being imposible. " - nollock

HOLY CRAP THATS AWESOME!

Thanx so much for this little test.
It's definetely different to the regular Dry/Wet knob, where everything looses the punch again. It stays punchy while keeping the transients much better.

I am sold :-)

Andrew here comes my money!!

EDIT: Money transfered...now waiting :hyper:

EDIT 2. Got it within minutes :D

@Agreed: The license is for one client at a time, or if you don't have clients and you are a band then one track / album at a time at once. As I have made clear, this is to do with the intent of the license to not distinguish between multiple cpus on one machine or two machines. This is not a license for two copies of The Glue, but just that you can run it on two machines to accomplish a single task.

If all of that is too confusing the please just use it on one computer at once and forget about the rest.

No, that clears it up just fine. I meant it when I said that it's really entirely your license to design how you want, I just initially didn't understand why the limitation existed. But you've given good examples of situations and so has at least one other person, and I'm satisfied. I'll be buying this as soon as the post-Beta is released and you get the web site up and running.

i finally got around to downloading the trial last night but havent unpacked it yet. im currently recording a project i'd like to test it on but it will be another 3/4 days before im at the stage of putting anything on the mix buss.

my question is this - when does the demo period start? is it from the moment i unpack the dll into my plugins folder or is it from the moment i open an instance in my DAW? thanks :)
andy?

From when you first run the plugin.

Excellent :) I know it's a bit odd, but since I like the way companies like Ableton allow multiple auths for a single serial, so I want to do something similar.

Figured i'd repost this info as I just spent 10 mins searching the thread for it!

Andy - might be worth you creating a seperate thread to inform people how they can buy/demo the glue, as this thread is getting harder and harder to find the relevant info.

Anyway, all that aside, just purchased! Have been watching this thread since the first day with interest. I was lucky enough to spend four days with a real SSL G 4000 compressor last year and it made such a difference to my sound. Thanks for making it possible for those of us without the budget for the real thing to be able to get that sound in Native plug in format. As someone who's used the real thing this thing definitely rocks! :)

I like the underground nature of it at the moment, I would rather people seek it out if they want it. When the final launch is done I'll make it a bit easier for people, but for now it's handy that only those that are a little hardier to get a copy since it's a little rough around the edges. It saves time and effort all round really, for both customers and me.

I saw on the GS forums that you were considering adding a "link" knob. Have you thought more about that? I actually think it would be a worthwhile feature to add as long it occurred prior to the official release or didn't break compatbility post release.
