@ hibidy,
correct, in the beginning Floyds used to be set up like many Fender Synchronizeds, i.e. dive bomb only. This made for better tuning stability in zero position.
Then folks changed their neck angle by putting shims in the neck pocket, bringing up the back of the Floyd a bit to make it floating, giving you that "wobble around the note" effect, ca. two halfsteps up was all you can get that way.
Vai was one of the first to "dig a hole" under the Floyd to enable bigger pull-ups, his first signature model was pretty radical back then for this and a few other pioneer stuff. First HSH for example, auto coil split, scalloped upper frets, contoured heel and so on.
Vai was a great, innovative guy before he became infected with guitar hero syndrome.
Cheers,

Well Mr Nix, you are not lacking in taste!
Some truly beautiful axes.
@ordering: I ordered EXACTLY what I wanted and it turned into a dud
so I'm really gunshy. I like ibbys, but I'm afraid to order another one (it's not fair to the shipper to eat all the shipping charges if it doesn't work out.....I feel guilty about that)
I'm going tomorrow anyways. Max (my newest cat) will be put to the test (without my watchful eyes) as it's kinda a "boutique" store and would love to just spend a couple of hours checking things out. Maybe something will win me over but it's mostly just to get out of dodge and try some guitars that would NEVER be in stock locally.
BTW, why does sac suck so bad
I mean, we are a pretty decent sized area and are the state capitol........wtf??

Original means "made for Floyd Rose by Schaller" here, as opposed to the many licensed versions, promising top grade material (steel etc).hibidy wrote:It is indeed an "original" floyd rose. Hmmmmmm, like I said I'm kinda giving up but I'm DRAWN to that guitar (in many colors) for some reason.
There is some truth behind this.
The original Floyd, the Schaller and the upmarket Ibanez trems sure are built better than most of the rest.

hey man,
welcome to KVR 8D
Please up some shots of the guitar when you get it back if you like.
These are eye candy to me among!
Sounds like a real find.
My uncle in law has a Hofner from the 60s, unfortunately it has been modded with like a broken angle grinder. Damn.
He can't sell it to me either.
That's really cool to me you like my taste in looks h.
I used to be a visual artist, now moreso a musician

Oh no doubt man I will for sure. Im going to try to sell it actually once I can find out what its really worth. There is virtually No information on this guitar at all and ive only seen ONE other person on the net that has the same guitar as me...So if anybody has any info on Tiesco Auditions id be glad.
I know they were very mass produced...But still its from the 60's! Got to be worth something to the rite person...

Audition guitars were the brand I grew up with in the UK, available from the now defunct Woolworths store chain, they were more often than not bad enough to deter all but the most persistent beginner, truly dreadful, dreadful guitars. That said, I saw Giles Headly (Giles Headly and the Real Blues) use a Audition tele copy, IIRC, live at a pub in London some years ago and it sounded superb, tho' the fact he was using it strictly for slide tells you how bad the action could be on them.NEF wrote:Oh no doubt man I will for sure. You not tried a Kahler @Hink? That would drop in pretty easily into the kramer and due to the roller system they use (depending on which one you may go for also) it should get rid of the string breakage problem. I can not adapt to the Kahler systems though as they feel more like a fixed bridge so i can not do all the mincing i am able to on a floyd
Scarface needs to be brought to life already again man
hibidy - I think those EVH bastardized 7ender/charvel 'custom shit' models which look all pre-nekrotized already (based on the original boogie board/frankenstien job) do have the floyd's set like that on purpose as that is how EVH had it set on that guitar (before the Musicman, Peavey...etc. Days) So it is all correct 'spec' wise, you know how those period correct psycho's are like and the 80's seem to be falling under the same spell

Hello NEF, I know some bit about Teisco's as I own a K-4L and a Checkmate 15 amplifier. In the past I also owned a Checkmate 17 amp, a Teisco SG style bass and an ET-210. Basically there are only very few collectible Teisco's: the Spectrum 5, the May Queen and to a lesser extent the K-4L.
Teisco Audition is a very generic designation, do you happen to know what type of Teisco you own exactly? Could you post some pics otherwise?
Best,
Jeremy
